About this deal

Toge, why are you so utterly crazy about ITX & small form factor PCs? Why should I care about building a mini ITX/small form factor PCs?

Positives
+ Looks/aesthetics
+ Space saving/easier for transport, perfect for a student dorm for example.
+ You like the challenge of a harder build which means more thought/research needs to be put into it.
+ You don’t mind burning money and more time than you should do on building a PC
+ Most suitable for a nice HTPC setup, you don’t need to put a high end parts like in my personal Fractal Ridge.

Negatives
- Dreaded ITX Tax
- 20x more planning and research needed before building
- 20x more difficult to cable manage & utilising every millimetre of space to accommodate parts
- May need to undervolt/lots more tinkering/do more research to achieve acceptable temperatures

On the connectivity front - A620 is PCIe 4.0 for the card slot and M2 slots.

The JGINYUE B650I NIGHT DEVIL,MSI B650I Edge Wifi and Gigabyte B650I AX have the same connectivity as an A620 so are B650 in name only for connectivity. MSI are taking the mickey charging £200 for that board and it has to be cheaper than the ASRock B650I Lightning WIFI. The JGINYUE is below £100 so it is OK. The Gigabyte boards have only one M2 slot so not worth it IMHO unless discounted.

The ASRock B650I Lightning WIFI has a PCIe 4.0 card slot and PCIe 5.0 M2 slot. The Asus ROG STRIX B650E-I GAMING WIFI is the only B650 board under £250 with full PCIe 5.0 connectivity for the card slot and M2 slot.

At least how I would look at it:
    1.)Super budget - JGINYUE B650I NIGHT DEVIL(might be risky)
    2.)Budget - ASRock A620I LIGHTNING WIFI
    3.)Mainstream - ASRock B650I Lightning WIFI
4.)High end - Asus ROG STRIX B650E-I GAMING WIFI (edited)

For those who are reading and why kitty and i may differ in opinion - kitty is much more focused on connectivity and future proofing than me

There is no wrong -what matters is buying to suit your needs

Voted hot for the effort and diligence.

I’ve just bought a 2nd hand fractal ridge myself for £40. Also bought
ASUS Stryx 470i mini itx mobo
    Ryzen 5600g
    16GB Ram
a 300w SFX psu (to tide me over)

All for £215. £50 Nvme from Amazon. If you have any advice pertaining to sff build, particularly with the fractal ridge, would be happy to hear it. Not meaning to hijack as this is AM5 thread

I have the Asus Strix B450I which I bought in 2018 and is very similar to the X470I Strix - had it since 2018 and has been solid.

The issue with all motherboard except the Asus is that they use the crappy Realtek 2.5GbE Ethernet port which disconnects 50% you wake it from standby

I bought a b650i lightning from morecoco on amazon and received a Gigabyte b650i AX board... not sure if it was a genuine mistake or if they have it mixed up in their system? Want to order again but don't want to have to return the wrong board again :/
