About this deal
This deal is expired. Here are some options that might interest you:
Basic Entry level Sony Alpha SLR, its OK with the supplied kit lens but with the 50mm lens as well that seems to retail around the £100 plus mark new, I thought this was a good deal.
I have the camera myself, I'm no pro. I have an alpha as I acquired at a very good price, but overall spec with lenses supplied I believe the £339 price tag to be very reasonable.
The price £339 seem be across the board online but without the 50mm lens. Thanks

sorted byMy mate is a pro he uses Hassleblad medium format gear and says the Sony stuff is OK there just isn't the glass for it. There's tons of wicked Nikon and Canon lens.
I think many pros' "cope" with the - in your opinion - inferior technology in their Nikon and Canon cameras LOL!
The description is wrong this is NOT an SLR it's an "SLT". This has some serious consequences regarding it's use and anybody interested in buying this should read up about that stuff first.

Thanks
Thanks.
50mm on aps-c=75mm on FF
1.8f on aps-c= 2.8 on FF

is that in response to something?
It worries me that although i class myself as a novice i understand that completely! :-)
I'm not a professional.

Great site for comparing cameras, short answer is sony is best
thx
be careful with that site, i don't think you can declare one better than the other, they are very similar and it will be personal preference on the differences between them
generally your pros wouldn't be looking at the low end of the market so fairly irrelevant as is the slt/slr thing is to those interested in this camera.
whats missing from the lens set up for someone buying this level of camera? genuine question i dont have an alpha but a quick look shows me assorted fast primes, macro lens as well as a variety of zooms of various qualities.

I can see why some photographers are moving to the SLT as it allows more FPS for your money, whilst others like the WYSWIG. Though I would never move over to Sony as I hate the EVF, yes its 100% coverage. But so has the pentaprism on my D7100.
Though its all horses for courses. This is a cracking deal for someone looking for a entry level DSLR.
