This was previously posted by deanturner12576 but got shouted down by a few and then spammed off the board.

He posted to say that if you order the AS-15 from Argos, they actually give you the much more expensive AS-30.

Well I decided to have a bit of faith and give it a whirl. I went and ordered an AS-15 and they did indeed give me an AS-30.

Yes. And it was spammed. And admin haven't responded to a request to reopen it. Hence my comments.
Cold already? £149 for a camera that costs between £189 and £199? Really?

Definitely came with the waterproof case. The box is twice the size of th camera - the camera sits in a plastic top and the bottom looks like it has some bits in it (presumably battery etc) but I'm not at home to check.

How do people helmet mount these cams? Is it some sort of glue or epoxy resin to affix the mount?

I have got two of these today one from Hemel and one from Gloucester great deal

    So.......
    Let me get this right.

This is listed on the Argos site as the lower spec AS15, but if I go and buy this, it'll be the AS30 that they give me?
Even though the AS30 isn't listed at all on the Argos site......
Great price for the AS30, but not really for the AS15.....

Sorry to ask, but are we talking in-store collection only or both? Is this confirmed by Argos, or just lucky, isolated cases at certain stores?

None of my local stores have stock, so my only option is delivery so I have no means of knowing I'll get an AS30.

    I spammed the last one.
The op with a brand new account refusing to post proof was suspicious.

    Cheers for verifying.

Ordered on yesterday on the off chance that he wasn't lying. Might go pick it up today; no idea what I would use it for though, already got a gopro hero3

You have distance selling regulations if online so you can always return it within 7 days. Nothing to lose

Interestingly the second pic on the middle row can just make out as15

According to the video review below, it seems the new waterproof case is considerably lower rated (in terms of 'waterproof depth'), than the old one.

Not sure about you guys but the AS15 picture looks better to me.

So did your e-mail confirmation state AS30?

You won't know until you pick it up.
The email confirmation only states the product, which is the cheaper model.

Quite tempted to try this. Has anyone ended up with an AS15?
I guess Argos are OK with returning un-opened stuff? Reason I ask is they say its exempt from their 30 day policy, and equally that click and collect is exempt from distance selling.

Cool, thanks. I've managed to find one in stock and reserve it, but it's a bit of a drive. Will wait see what you get (and if anyone else has any success).

Yes, you wont be able to return it if collected from store only if you order online you will have 7 days to return under the distance selling regs but you could ask to see the item first before buying it

Just picked up the HDR-AS30V in the Ayr store. Asked if I could view the item first at the customer services desk to make sure it was not the AS15.
The receipt says Sony Action Camera only, no model number.
Thanks to deanturner12576 for yesterdays post.

It doesn't say the model number on the receipt, just Sony action camera.

And it's excluded from their money back guarantee so I guess you should ask to see it first and then pay just in case.

I got mine in Birmingham so it would appear to be widespread.

Taken a punt and collected from Gateshead. Right enough, it's an AS30. Checked before paying. Thanks OP!

Looks like the newer AS30 doesnt go as deep in water.

Do you get a 3m mount to stick it on a helmet?
  27. cybortech's avatar
Yep, got one in Sheffield Kinler, it's coming up on the system as invalid, but they sold it for £149 anyway. This glitch going to be rectified soon IMHO.

I just picked one up from the Southend store - can too confirm they give you an AS30 instead of an AS15.

They told me it was exempt from returns - but i asked nicely if they'd take it back provided i didn't break the seals and they agreed. Even wrote on the receipt and signed it!

Really torn about whether to keep this. I know it's a good deal but i was expecting to be able to scuba with it- now realise i can't with the provided case. And i don't have time to buy another as I'm leaving tomorrow for Indonesia. Are you guys keeping yours?

I've reserved one, but the underwater footage I've seen looks poor compared to a gopro. I know they're not comparable on price etc but it's just a consideration.

Yeah I saw that too. Price difference sort of makes up for that though and there might be a better underwater lens at some point.

For underwater filming you need to change the front cover lens:

I like my AS15, but at this price it's tempting to update and have a spare... Now if only someone, anyone, added wireless charging to waterproof cameras...
