About this deal
This deal is expired. Here are some options that might interest you:
Saw the Sony KDL50W829B listed on here for £749.00, but thought this was a good deal too for anyone that wanted a soundbar for an extra £35.99. (RRP £109.00)
As mentioned in the title the deal Is from the 15th October, pretty sure I saw an offer like this last year so I guess it's a yearly pre Christmas thing.
For anyone that wants a different size, this offer is available on four sizes in the W8 series:
Sony KDL42W829 42-inch: £579.00
Sony KDL50W829B 50-inch £784.99
Sony KDL55W829B 55-inch : £999.00
Sony KDL60W855BBU 60-inch: £1,499.00
*EDIT* JL now offer this so 5 year guarantee!
First post so take it easy! Thanks

I did see that, i'm assuming somebody just got sent the wrong item and it'll be back to normal soon. The offer doesn't start till the 15th October anyway so hopefully it'll be offered by Amazon by then

Cheers for the info
Feel the same way.
Our plasma is now a 6 year old Samsung 50" still going strong.
I really fancy just upping straight to a 3D, Smart (w/ built in WiFi), LED, 4K, 55" though ... if one is available around the £600 mark i'll do it.
This was for the 50" version. Came with the 5 year warranty as well. Wouldn't March John Lewis for price though, paid £800. Preferred the vouchers to the soundbar though!
Great TV though, fantastic VA panel, inky deep blacks, very uniform back light and only minute back light bleed from the bottom centre. Closest I've got to matching my old pioneer plasma so I'm very happy. 3d isn't all that great but I won't use it anyway.
Sony centre let you choose between the soundbar, vouchers or a bluray player.
My friend has this and is a great TV. All the motion enhancements are dreadful and better turned off, but a great TV. I have the 50" version and is also a very nice display once calibrated.
One thing to note is that if the soundbar is infront of the TV, the remote hardly works as it blocks the sensor. There is no ir receiver on the soundbar for tv inputs.
Soundbar is ok, not as good as my creative speakers which I use on computer, but improvement on the Tv speakers!
seconded this.
also, might as well get the 55" with a £100 extra instead of 50" one...
right?
Thanks for that mate. I am genuinely considering this from John Lewis, a friend of mine works there so could maybe ask for a cheeky staff discount too haha
Now with staff discount it's £874 with sound bar and 5 years guarantee for 55" SONY W829 TV.
Will 55" vary in quality compared to 50"? Thanks

Edit: This is for Currys

and 42" version hdtvtest.co.uk/new…htm
Looking to upgrade froma 42" plasma
This is what I wanted to know. Just ordered it after staff discount for £791 for 55". BARGAIN.
Sony rep. Goes to me at JL that it has the lowest lag input ranging from 18 to 23ms.
Hopefully TV is good
Not sure on 55" but 50" and 42" both have input lag of about 8ms. That's very low, Sony TV's are probably the best for gaming. I'm looking at the 42" myself.
See here
Go for it, you won't be disappointed! Especially if you get more money off.
I have the 50" and it is perfect for gaming. I know two people with the 42" and they have had no complaints.
When you get the TV it will need to be calibrated though. They pretty much turn saturation up to 100, and everyone looks like Oompa lumpa's!
Colours are vibrant, and blacks are rich. Great TV imo.
It seems these offers with the free soundbar expire at the end of the year so think these will be around at this price for a while, would be interested to know how you got on before I make a purchase?
How do you calibrate if I may ask? Thanks
I won't be able to tell you about gaming because I'm waiting for the white ps4 to come with bundles (especially Black Friday in November) but as for the quality of pictures etc. I sure will but my TV comes on the 28th so over a week still left.
Ok no worries, I'm very interested in buying this T.V in the 55" version too so definitely intereste din hearing how it performs
I have the 50" version of the set along with the soundbar.
I've come from a 42" 8 year old Plasma. The picture on the Sony looks great too me. Even my brother commented on how good it looks and he's usually unimpressed by these kinds of things. I've got my hooked up to a Media PC (gaming) and running games on the set just looks ultra sharp and detailed. Not a hint of motion blur as well. It's definitely worth configuring the set as per the instructions on the AVForums website. The SD feeds also look very good along with the picture from Sky TV. Blacks are better than on my Plasma.
I don't like the fact that the remote sensor is blocked off by the soundbar but I've fixed that with a nice black shelf from Argos for the TV to sit on. I guess the stand looks a little basic too.
I was worried I might have some buyers remorse from purchasing the TV, along with a wife telling me 'we don't need a new one'. This couldn't be further from the truth, well the buying part. The wife still isn't happy.
Thanks for the info, I've just ordered the 55" version. I'm hoping that the sound bar doesn't cover the sensor.
Do you have a link for the settings that you used asI'll mostly be using my TV for gaming and would ideally like optimum settings (no motion blur or lag)
I'd be surprised if the sensor wasn't blocked but you never know.
Settings located HERE.
But no 5year guarantee on these models from Currys so perhaps not a good option , suggest JL may be the better option (1.5% cashback available through Kidstart) .....
does anyone have the 42 inch and is it a good deal at £579?
