I have the green one it’s a lovely colour but they are pretty loud kettles

Just wondering if the colour makes a difference to how fast it loses heat. I was also wondering what the "energy saving feature" could possibly be. Faster detection of the water reaching boiling point, perhaps? The ability to just heat a cupful of water?

1.7 ltr = 3 pints. No idea how kettles got to be that particular size. Or why "5 cups of tea" is considered the best size.

A black kettle would radiate heat at a greater rate than a silver or white one, but the vast majority of heat loss will be by convection to the air, so really not a significant difference. White or cream will look better than black if it gets limescale deposits on the case.

Just boiling 1 cup will likely be the "energy saving feature", which likely will just mean it got something like a plastic water level gauge inside the kettle since the clear gauges on the outside rarely go low enough.

I guess 5 cups is big enough to make tea for 4 people and still have enough water left in the teapot so that most of the tea leaves stay behind in the pot. (edited)

looks identical to the one i bought from argos about 5 years ago, still going strong and the noise is not really relevant as it boils stuff that quick.
