I had the Tower style but now I have the Cavaletto style which I would recommend as the Tower style has the sensor at the top where the lid can sometimes hit you and close fast, but with the Cavaletto style the sensor is on the front side where you can use your leg (when close) to open and seems to stay open until I move from the bin (so far). Love this bin. Yes, the sensor closes a little too fast if your doing anything other than throwing something in (guessing 4 seconds), but you learn to open it manually with your hands (doesn't close automatically that way) or simply use your hand to block it closing and it stops.

Had mine 2 years now - wouldn't want to go back. Works so simply and not having to touch the bin I find really useful

I would get the new ones (Cavaletto on offer from anywhere) as I thought the same as you but I love this new one now not having to open by hand and not shutting on me.
