Discover a wealth of exciting new ways to enjoy home entertainment with Wii U, Nintendo's next home console. With a revolutionary new touch screen controller, precision motion controls, and full HD graphics, a whole new world of play styles and gaming possibilities is on the horizon. The time is coming to truly expand your idea about what a game console is - and can be. The system includes the new 8GB Wii U console and amazing new controller.

Each Wii U console will be paired with a new groundbreaking controller, with its 6.2-inch wide screen. Previously, video games played on a home consoles have been confined to the TV and offered identical viewpoints to each player in a multiplayer environment. The Wii U controller enhances that experience with different viewpoints available in-game and in differing games/game situations. Also, watching TV and playing console games have been completely separate experiences. The new controller removes these boundaries, creating a more dynamic and fluid gaming and entertainment experience.

Up to four Wii Remote (or Wii Remote Plus) controllers can be connected at once. The new console supports all Wii controllers and input devices, including the Nunchuk controller, Classic Controller, Classic Controller Pro and Wii Balance Board.

Ill never understand this obsession people have with Backwards … Ill never understand this obsession people have with Backwards Compatibility, if you have a bunch of 360 games then you own a 360? so why must they play on your XB1 same goes for PS3/PS4 its a pointless argument, usually a fan-boy one too.

    2 reasons:-

    1. Your old console might have packed in. My Gamecube packed in just before I got my Wii, so the Wii allowed me to still play the GC games.

    2. You might not own the old console. People who buy a Wii U can now also buy old Wii games cheap without having to buy a Wii.

Is there a massive diff between the premium and basic?

Aside from the extra memory, the premium also comes with a Wii Sensor Bar - enabling you to connect and use original Wii remotes if you buy/have them. There's also a charging dock & stand included with the premium pack too.

    4. Nintendo actually want their customers to be happy buying one of their products. Loyalty is what makes the same old school retro gamers continue to purchase their products. I know Microsoft didn't have that luxury when they discussed the Xbox ones features...

Correct... and you can play many Wii U games in the same way - no need for a TV. With Wii U games, you can PLAY on the screen with the joysticks and buttons, with Wii games, its used purely as a viewing device only, just like the portable monitors you used to buy for PSone/PS2/GameCube etc... Might not suit older gamers with bad eyesight, but the kids will love it (and so will you because you can have the TV all to yourself). Good for traveling as well I guess; you could even play it on a train if there's a power socket near your seat.

If I hadn't bought one already, I'd go with this. 1. Black is nicer and comes with the charging cradle, more memory and the sensor bar for original Wii games. 2. Owning a Wii U without MK8 is quite possibly sinful.

Sorry to be a pain but is the sensor bar different to the original wii one? I went totally off wii because i literally bought everything for the wii then they brought out the wii u at a stupidly high price and switched to PlayStation. But theres no substitute for mario x
