Has anyone sent a DualSense 5 controller back to Sony for repair?

My PS5 DS5 controllers have started to drift, and I plan to send them to Sony for repairs. Looking to see if anyone had any experience or advice

Planning to complete the online form
repairs.playstation.com/s/t…_GB

Has anyone sent their controllers back to Sony?
Did they ask if the controllers were in warranty? Does it matter?

Did they repair or replace? If they refused, what was their reason, and did they send the controller back for free (asking because a few years back, Sony refused to repair or to send my mobile phone back, unless I paid for the return delivery)

Was there a charge?

How long did it take?

If they do entertain you with an or if warranty repair and fix it for you for free. Then I don't think it would be too bad of a compromise to pay for the return postage (edited)

That's fair enough, I just wanted to avoid a situation where I send the controller, they refuse to fix it, and I have to pay for the return delivery

That has happened before, but with a Sony mobile

I requested a repair for ds5 that had loose shoulder button springs.

They replaced the ds5 inand returned without requesting any fee, within about 3 weeks.

That's great news -- how old was your controller?

    Just to update,

The dodgy controller was actually replaced with a new one
    It took about two weeks.
There was zero updates - not by email, nor by the tracking link that was provided by Sony

But, it all worked out, albeit longer than I expected (edited)
