About this deal

This deal is expired. Here are some options that might interest you:

I've done the classroom based teaching and the online courses with this training company (Commsupport), but now they're teaching the Cisco CCNA course for free. It's a proper course with a qualified instructor and live network kit.

It's a really good deal, and most CCNA courses can cost a few hundred quid to a grand, so this is definitely a huge bargain if you're in the market to do a course, improve your skills or get into IT.

The course is on-line and delivered by a live instructor. It's all free. You just have to register before the next course starts on the 20th of January.

The link to register is:

www3.gotomeeting.com/reg…678

The course is 5 weeks, 5 sessions per week from 9:30pm until 11:00pm Monday to Friday.

Enjoy guys!!!!

An opinion from many years in the industry; this is really for entry level positions and many organisations this wont help you get the job. When they recruit raw talent at the bottom this is usually part of the "personal growth and development" assist with payment etc.

Its well worth doing, it probably wont open any doors, 10 years ago or more any Cisco qualification was a real bonus.

You'd be surprised at how bad some IT Pro's are, MCSE or not. Some very dangerous people out there. Then again I'm sure there are conmen in all professions.

Perfect, 9:30's just after the school run. Perfect way for people out of work to get a foothold in IT. Can't applaud this enough.

Ah, me not paying attention! Just assumed it would be AM for the trainer, very good of him/her to put their time in.

Anyone thinking of doing this take a look at GNS3/Dynamips to support the learning. gns3.net/

Just a word of advice, if you've never done basic home networking then you might struggle a bit, the new ICND1 book starts off basic but gets harder when it goes into STP(spanning tree protocol) and link state protocols like OSPF. There's more in-depth IPv6 stuff now; not gonna lie but I barely know anything about IPv6 minus the need and address size -_-

I'd have finished my CCNA years ago but it only lasts for 3 years and i'm still in uni and last year was hell in terms of work load.

If you're going to actually dedicate time and money into this then i'd advice buying 2 2950 cisco switches and 2 2650xm cisco router, that way you can run VLAN's with VTP and RIP/OSPF/EIGRP etc... network setups.

onamission - I don't think any Microsoft course that is decent would be free like this unfortunately.

I have done a range of the Microsoft certifications to date and if anything the cost is rising to meet growing demands for IT Training.

I have just got back off a 3k 2 week course on Exchange 2013 (MCSE:Messaging) and I can recommend MVA website, it is fantastic for free learning despite no certification at the end. It has thousands of videos and advice on all different areas from industry professionals. It massively gave me a head start in my course as the online videos covered 50% of the course meaning first week I could look into stuff more relevant to me.

Thank you had paid £800 to my local college for basically this plus exams and it was then cancelled day before it was due to start as wasn't financially viable for the college. Cisco networks level 1 was my course, hoping this is a similar level.

Yes, I read that too ..you can purchase the recordings and the ccna lab manuals later for £75. I think the reason this is a good way to learn is that the Cisco Books or any text book is so so theoretical. This course is taught by a real person you can interact with - ask stuff if you don't follow, and it's done in structured steps. I liked it alot. It's also easier someone explaining it to you than trying to work out what's going on from a book!

dirge above mentioned gns3.net/ which is just awesome if you don't have real kit. highly recommended and FREE!!!!!

    What about software?

It would be hard to get a job with either no experience or higher education with just this cert. Although it's a really good exam, there are too many paper certs out there for companies to take a chance.

However these certifications are not really worth anything any more - there is just too much cheating going on. The skills they teach are useful though, just need to take this into account if you're planning to take the exam.
