Received an email from Virgin mobile offering 1000 free texts as follows:

We love surprises. Big bunches of flowers little bundles of airtime.

alking of airtime, wed like to give you 1000 free texts - just to say thanks for being one of us.

If youd like them, all you need to do is text Yes to 80310 by 25th April. Texts to 80310 cost just 10p and the 1000 texts you get back are absolutely free.

Edit:Looks like you need to be registered with virgin online,as the texts come in the form of a voucher sent out to you.The email reply reads as follows:
Thanks for replying.A voucher for your 1000 free texts is on its way to you.

Checked my account and the texts are only charged @ 3p,not 10p.


I am registered with virgin for PAYG sims,so can't comment on whether this applies to contract or not.

Sent an email to virgin about this offer.Just had a reply as follows:
Hi ,
Thanks for your email to Virgin Mobile about the fantastic voucher offer you received for 1000 free texts.
We can confirm that the voucher will be sent to you, with advice on how many texts you will be entitled to each month and for how many months, along with instructions on how to apply this to your phone.

Edit:THIS DEAL IS NOW EXPIRED,SO DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME AND MONEY SENDING A TEXT.

I guess,technically,this isn't a freebie as it costs 10p for the text,so feel free to move if needs be.
Anyway,a few seconds after sending the text,you should get one back saying,thank you for replying and a voucher is on it's way.In that respect,i would think that you must be registered with them online with at least one sim card,otherwise they wouldn't know where to send the voucher.

I didn't supply the link,it just defaults to that when submitting the deal.I received an email this am.This is not an online deal.

Fantastic, many thanks, got the message back straight away - I love Virgin, they have such great promotions!

I would imagine they don't just credit your phone, as you could just be using their free £5 sims and not registering with them, they want you to be part of their 'club'. Mine was a free £5 sim which I used after their credit had ceased and I registered it so I could top up automatically, now its paying dividends and I'm happy to be part of it.

No harm in being negative. That's what this forum is all about,sharing info and points of view.
But what are you referring to,when you say once bitten,twice shy.
This is a legitimate email from Virgin and the most you stand to lose is 10p.
