My broadband hasn't worked for 5 days - it's with Orange (and the famous Livebox). I've been on and off the phone for a long time and they've not helped. Here's what's happened:

1) net stopped working -called customer service, went through various checks and took around 45 minutes, i had to stop the phone call because of going out.
2) called up and went through other checks with them again - was then told they'll do a line check and i can't use the phone line for 2 hours and will be given an answer by text within 48 hours.
3) got a text within 24 hours saying problem's sorted , but it still didn't work
4)called them again, they said they'd identified the fault at the exchange and will fix by 7pm tonight...
5) guess what....it still doesn't work

I'vv got another 6 months on contract and want to get out of it. the customer service experience was awful (one woman lost her temper with me because i wasn't doing what she said to do, apparently.)
Do you know if I'm within my rights to cancel this?

thanks a lot

to update - I've just spoken to them about and i've been asked to wait 24 hours for the signal to settle. is this a genuine technical issue?

best thing to do is ring oranges head office, and deal with the top brass, there was an email on orangeproblems.co.uk, not sure if its still on there tho. prob taken off with the amount of probs they getting, i had similer prob, got in touch with head office direct, he was very good, and the problem was sorted within 24 hours also gave me around £30 in cash refund on my bill plus 3 months free for the phone calls i made to orange tech support,

My dad has had lots of problems, I phone for him and make them pay for the problems, so far about £70 off his bills which is almost 6 months free.

Agreed.

Use an ISP that doesn't insist on long term contracts like Orange etc., that way if you have a problem you are not stuck with them.

Orange should read " Lemon ".

24 hours for a signal to settle? I think I've had four or five broadband activations now, and never once heard that one. I call bullsht.

I've not used Orange, but have of all the tales of woe about them. The response always seems to be "ring back". It gets monotomous after a while. A girl I worked with used them. She was offline for months and probably made 100 calls to them. Being told once "ring back in a week" would have got an immediate response from me. "Give me my MAC".

They only get away with this because people let them (usually because of frustration!)
