kgadgets.co.uk - scammers?

The website looked legit so I have placed an order for a laptop, however it has been declined stright away.

Now I have noticed that there is no address or phone number on the website.

Thier 'about us' page is very similar to another (a bit doggy) retailer Ballicom.co.uk
ballicom.co.uk/abo…php
kgadgets.co.uk/ind…php

Also thier Terms & Conditions are very similar to dabs.com and few other retailers

Quick google search shows that they went online only 9 days ago an the 31st of August 2010 (my order number was 5XXX) wsdaj.com/det…tml

Do you think they are scammers?
No money has been taken from my bank account yet.
What should I do now?
Do I report it somewhere?

Cancel your card immediately. I too saw this site. If you go through the checkout process you will see the web page does not even go secure when collecting card details (from http to https). They could just be collecting card details for use later or for resale.

no address or phone number on the website is NEVER a good sign!

    ballicom.co.uk/abo…php
    kgadgets.co.uk/ind…php
TWINS!! (A few sites use the same software & or developer so this is sometimes why they look alike)

Just because they started up only 9 days ago & use order number 5XXX (Which most companys do) doesn't mean they will scam anyone!

Always best to check these things out before placing orders & giving bank details!!

What exactly have they done wrong to report?

They have declinded my order right after I have provided them with my bank details. But I cannot report them for that.

I am just afraid that sooner or latter they will use my bank details

I too have just come across this site: it seems too good to be true as it is offering at lower price a laptop that all other sites say is discontinued. You are quite right to say that there is no address or phone number. I sent them an email and have had no reply. If you look carefully at the returns policy you will see that it has been cut and pasted from johnlewis.com - down to naming the company and suggesting that any goods can be returned to their shops.
This does not inspire me with any great confidence - but I would be delighted to be proved wrong as I really want that laptop!

    They also state;

Call us, but have no telephone number.:(

Anybody using this site must be off of their heads.

I have also placed an order in fact two orders as the first was declined as was the second. Can only contact them by email.

It states on their home page they have been quote
We have been in the IT business since 2003 and have in that time satisfied hundreds of thousands of customers both in the UK and Europe.

Think I will also cancel the card.

My Fiance has been checking out a few laptops and like most of you guys found one cheaper on Kgadgets. She sent me the link to check out the site as she was suspicious straight away just a gut instinct. I then found out about reviews on HUKD and also found this site while searching google. [url=cqcounter.com/who…tml ]url] Just enter details and away you go, definately looks like potential fraud in the long run.[/

As I said before, you should cancel your card straight away and check it has not been used already. You will have a new one in 48hours most likely. Even if this site was legit (which is very unlikely) you sent your card details over an unsecure connection so anyone could have them. Also, you will have registered before placing your order, which collects loads of personal stuff (such as date of birth) which is used by banks etc. If you have used a common password, as many people do, then change said password everywhere else you use it also.

Both kdagets.co.uk and hdbestelectronics.com are almost almost certainly scam/phising sites written by the same people/persons (who are stealing their content from other sites).

If you have entered your credit card details (you'll find the order comes up "Declined") - you should phone up your credit card companies fraud team ASAP and tell them your card details have been compromised.

If you registered on either website using the same password / username you use on other accounts (webmail account, twitter, facebook) you need to also consider other accounts compromised. Change your passwords ASAP.

AS at 1730 today their rebsite has now gone offline and any pages now come up with a database server error. I have just telephoned Tesco and cancelled my VISA carfd although I had called thenm once already this morning. I said my card details had been compromised and they were interested to hear it. I was suspicious as my card is paid on D/D so cannot ever be in a situation where it is declined. This might be a good ruse to make us go elsewhere as we are "sick " of trying kgadgets, try it twice, thinking we had mis-typed, and then go to dabs or whatever. They have all the info they need however.

    Data dump follows:-
    mybrowserbar.com/cgi…=11

Server reported:- Oops! This page appears broken. DNS Error - Server cannot be found.

    CLASSIC!

I have been to the bank today. The scammers tried to use my card details yesterday, they succeeded today. £29.00 was paid to AUTOTRADER.CO.UK I declined the transaction and cancelled the card.
