Kind of concerned that marketing types keep trying to associate "fun" with chocolate - being fat isn't a whole lot of fun. Especially that Toffifee advert guilt tripping mothers into buying it.

Skyler_Armstrong

Ye I had them last week for £2 . Lush

squiff

They were £2 for a pack of 3, so not half price. Great deal though, heat added!

divadot

I went into my local Tesco on the 29th at 4pm None left on the shelves... I asked a young lad....he got me 4 eggs... As I was walking away another couple in the aisle asked a different lad n he said there were none left...

Just gone to my local medium sized store to get 4 for my kids... Shelves empty, about four different kinds left on a pallet by entrance only. Staff hinted cannot stock quick enough, people buying loads.... Don't think be many left weekend. Heat!..... But get in quick!

Because it's a well known psychological fact that 'most' people will vote hot on a deal just because they like the product (regardless of whether It's a good deal or an actual deal) Oh and this is isn't a deal but a third party announcement advert that this product will be available on the 20th of March.

dannykerner1990

Must mention that the 99p mini mcflurry is excluded from the monopoly promotion. You can only get the tokens on the regular.

Ha. You're welcome. Making the Internet better, one post at a time.

sgc

Yes, you're absolutely right. Like so many environmental issues, the problems are a real challenge to solve and care needs to be taken not to replace one problematic thing with another. Given the difficulties, I think an important short term win can come from shift of consumer behaviour and increasing consumer education to enable choices to be made; choose to eat something entirely different that has far less of an impact on the planet, or, simply cut down intake to sensible more sustainable quantities. Anyway, really appreciate the educated, polite and respectful discussion @Thermobaric - makes a welcome change from the usual trolling that occurs on the internets and actually enables better more informed decision making. Thank you :)

Thermobaric

True, but the problem is there are so many products with some plant based oil variant in, it seems to be difficult to escape. Until there is some technological breakthrough, I guess the best we can do is obtain plant based oil via the most sustainable means.

sgc

Interesting and certainly helpful knowledge. The problem is when you get to the point of being a lesser of two evils you have to question whether it’s right at all. Should our love of chocolate come before the needs of others I guess is the point and I think many would argue not. It’s a choice at the end of the day but certainly worth knowing the facts.

Thermobaric

Are you aware that no other crop can yield even a third as much oil per acre planted. And along with using less land, the oil palm gobbles up significantly fewer pesticides and chemical fertilizers than coconut, corn or any other vegetable oil source? Palm oil is kind of the lesser of all these evils.

What if one is strolling through the shop and fancies a sweet treat to tickle their tea cosy? They decide on a Creme Egg, but only want one egg rather than 5. ‘A fine deal Sainsbury’s have’ thinks the esteemed customer, ‘for although I could purchase many eggs for a fraction less per egg, just one for a tuppence more shall satisfy my craving’. :{

i think this must also be up north as i have never heard of them either. people up north seem to be living in a different country to us down south as they have different shops up there. it puzzles me why the shops up north don't come down south? what's wrong with us??? :/ the northern shops seem to be much better value than those down south from what i can see so it would be better for us if they started to move down here.

How can anybody eat those after reading the ingredients on the Tesco page? Is their anything more precious and important than our health? 51% sugar, 32% fat (palm oil saturated dangerous fat too), Made in USA (much lower quality/regulations on food there) that's why the included "Genetically Modified Sugar Beets, Corn, and Soya Beans". :( Much much healthier and cheaper to mix 50% sugar with peanut butter and some 100% chocolate buttons or something,
