What about lashing rain or a steamy bathroom or a sweaty jeans pocket, I'm just saying it's been engineered well.

The only thing is it's difficult to be member of this forum and first time customer at Tesco - at least genuine one.

Put something like tomtom europe on and you have very little space left on the 8 gig, I would recommend the 16 gig if you can afford it.

I bought this from Tesco and unlocked it via ebay. Brilliant phone and have ovivo snim in it. Really easy to unlock, all I had to was enter the code the ebay seller sent me.
I find the 8gb is enough for what I use it for. I have about 20 podcasts loaded, a good few apps, though I haven't got any music and not many photos.

Which magazine really rate this phone and say for its price it is the best phone.
I have changed from an iPhone 3GS to this and love it.

Sweaty jeans pocket... that is one nasty image.
I can see where you're coming from, but personally I would prefer day to day decent sound instead of a promise that some day it will survive a drop in the water or something. They have to damp the speaker to protect it from the water coming in.

But it is still early to say if it is well engineered, reliability will only be assessed in time. I remember the G300, raving reviews, then reliability issues everywhere.

This phone is good for the price. Until now,I am annoyed by kitkat that it removed the USB mass storage option, no percentage baterry charge and small things. Big issue: i feel by buying it I am endorsing google awful decision to cripple phones by removing sdcard slot.
I might want to have a 64GB sdcard for whatever I want... well you cannot anymore.

    Hullomail
UNSUPPORTED CARRIERS & NETWORKS UK: Virgin Mobile and Tesco Mobile

hullomail doesn't work on on PAYG at all except three and giffgaff.

It's paid for by adverts or the subscribed service is £40 ! The advert service only gives short messages whereas the paid service allows 5 minute message recorded.

It uses your data allowance to work if you aren't by a wifi connection.

So personally I don't think it's an option for a lot of people. If you are out it will cost you on your data so are you supposed to wait until you get in to pick up voicemail from your MOBILE phone ? sort of negates the point of it being mobile !

Even if you want more music on it you can use google music to upload up to 20,000 songs free to the cloud for streaming - and you can choose to keep or remove on the go (space permitting).
    Obviously requires data connection/wi fi.

agreed with above, if this is the locked tesco one, is it that much cheaper than o2 or vodafone deals (both in stock at £99.99)? Same price really (can't take cashback into consideration when putting up a price, which you haven't as you said 'effectively')

I suppose it does have the bonus of clubcard points...

Walked past the mobile phone isle of my local tesco last night and the 8gb was priced at £104 with the 16gb about £137

I was in a Tesco store yesterday with both models on display. I can't remember the price of the 8GB, but the 16GB was £139.

However, for some strange reason the 8GB is unlocked but the 16Gb is! I was told that a top-up isn't needed.

Just had to say as it's mentioned in the title, Tesco won't actually pay cashback if a voucher (or even clubcard points) are used. It will track/confirm but will eventually become payable at £0.00

I got the 16gb version from tesco a few week ago and unlocked as described.
You can't add an SD card like most phones, so bigger is always better (imho)
About the only thing I miss is that the notification light is white and can't be configured
to different colours for different apps.
The battery life is great and I can't see any tesco bloatware anywhere!
The screen is Gorilla glass, it really makes a difference
What sold me was the youtube video showing the phone still working under water
    after 30 mins. WOW

I believe the battery in this phone is fixed. So what happens if the battery life is running down or you need to reset the phone as you do with some by taking the battery out?
Also if you unlock the phone does that make the guarantee invalid?

Vol down + Power to do a reset
Get a portable charger if you feel like it's such an issue

Fantastic phone, using one while my Nexus 4 is being repaired and think I may actually prefer it. Been pleasantly surprised with the camera too, certainly opens faster than my Nexus 4 which is a huge positive.

o_0 Got this for £84! @ Tesco near December - Amazing Phone!!! Cheap Unlock, and case ! all for £4.50 ish

Only downside is I wish I got the 16gb version!

With the 8gb model you get like 4-5gb free only!

If you can, try and spend a bit more and go for the 16gb, ( If you use ART it increases app size by 10%) and have lots of music, and apps, 8gb is very small!

It really depends for what purpose you want the phone. It supposed to be a smart phone so you should have the option to take an advantage of all its benefits - sooner or later - and you can be limited by its lacking memory. I also think the 16GB is a minimum today esp. if there is no microSD card slot in the device. Count with me: some SatNav app can take about 1GB or even more (depends on maps - i.e. all europe). If you want to use your phone as MP3/MP4 player then you need some space for it as well. And what about games? Some of them are about 1GB or even more (i.e. N.O.V.A. 3 takes almost 2,5GB on its own). I would never buy this one (or any other) with only 8GB (it is much less for your data).
