Out the box and without third party warez MIUI and Emui are pretty hard to beat.

The reason is simple why Google phones don't succeed, they marry excellent software with mediocre hardware. Whilst companies such as OPPO now produce excellent hardware but marry it with mediocre software. Samsung, Huawei (before the USA restrictions) OnePlus, all produce excellent hardware and they can all produce very good software but not the top tier that Google produces on their handsets. So Google and OPPO fail for the opposite reasons whilst the best of the rest average things out to be good enough.

Price seems great but the face unlock seems to be really a poison chalice https://www.androidguys.com/featured/opinion/opinion-its-time-to-reconsider-face-unlock-on-the-pixel-line/

Dex. BixbyThey are still playing catch-up with Samsung, STILL adding features from the S3 and trying to add deep reaching assistant features.I look at the Pixels software and all I see is monitoring and spying software, innovation equals zerro. If their version of Android was the best every single device they have put there name to wouldn't have been a sales flop. The small number of opinionated Stock enthusiasts don't even make up 5% of device sales and that is all that needs to be said. Even mighty Samsung had a S4 Google ay edition that flopped and Xiaomi have killed their one series devices, stock will always be a enthusiast thing.

I am seriously considering looking at one but the dev scene is pretty no existent after a year on the 4 XL, that has left me in two minds having a play flashing Roms will be my main reason for getting the 4XL. From my observations it would seem that the high pricing of the last two years has moved dev well and truely into Xiaomi's realm.

Had one Nokia 7 Plus from Argos couple of years ago and wasn't impressed. Too scratched up to be considered "Good" IMO, not sure if they've improved since.

tranceazure

Has this phone improved with updates as initial reviews pointed out plenty of flaws including poor battery life for the battery capacity and a dodgy screen

For clarification. Free unlimited forever 1. Free unlimited until January 2021 (I think) 2 and 3. After that high quality that will still be free for all pixels users until the new models (that used to be free for all google photos users).

Been impressed with this seller before, grading and customer service Side note, anyone had any experience with Argos refurbished phones? Grading wise

Yep the same. I've tried similar features on other android phones but never as good. Only as good on iPhone. The screen on Samsung phones is amazing and I love it for media on my Z fold 2 but arguably still prefer to read on my iPad Pro or XS Max due to the colours. Or the 4XL of course.

sufy123

Yeah true. I really do like the display. I have ambient eq on and the colours do look nice. Do you have that on? and also regarding face unlock. I absolutely love it. It's so fast and 99% of the time it works. I have no issues with it. It also unlocks at a angle. Have you tried it. It's so cool.

cantonbean

Yep. I had a big issue with that in the beta where it kept pulsing in low light. Obviously it was a beta end of the day and they fixed it. Honestly one of the big things for an iOS user that I love with the 4XL was that it has arguably better implication of the technology for Face ID and had the best True Tone style screen and colour calibration I’ve used outside iPhone. It could do with being brighter but I use all mum android phones on natural settings and 4XL is the only one I’d say is true to that. Plus I love squeeze for assistant.

sufy123

You on Android 11? And adaptive brightness on?

Everything bar always on display as I have the motion sense on to show when go to the phone

Despite being essentially the same camera system (no TOF sensor), the 5 ii gives better results from what I've read on gsmarena and other reviews. It does seem more suited to a DSL user but if you take the time to get familiar with the Pro mode, it seems well worth it.

billmax764

I did. Initially, I was looking at the 4a 5G, Xperia 5 II and the S20 FE 5G. Then, I thought I'd narrow it down further by comparing the Sony with the Samsung. Sony killed the FE. Plus, the touchscreen issues with the FE also put me off.

Outinthefields

Any reason why you do not consider the S20 FE 5G? If you do not need the headphone jack, it is a great phone.

billmax764

Having just watched some more camera comparison videos, it does seem that, for point and shoot, Pixel wins. Sound and screen etc, Sony. Tough decision.

pchippo1983

I found the SuperSaf YouTube video a good assessment of the camera's downfalls. "Sony Xperia 1 ii camera test & review". It's a Sony 1ii comparison, but I think they have the same constraints.

You can't do this, you should copy and paste. In fact, on second thoughts, you should read it and attach it as a voice message.

For a brand new phone from a seller with 98.4% feedback & PayPal cover for at least 6 months - you can't be serious?! Could you share your bad experience please with more details?

Jamrod

Yes dual SIM.

John.Latter

Is the Honor 20 view dual SIM?

rp1974

Did you buy it new?,as far as I remember Honor phones have a two year warranty so that might be worth looking at if it applies.
