These breakdown after 2 years, load of horror stories.

I would recommend Miele, you pay double but will last a decade.

Which horror stories? All the reviews I’ve ever seen for AEG tumble dryers have been extremely positive, and that includes Which?.

According to Which? statistics, AEG is second in reliability, Miele being top. The difference is quite small though, given that the Miele price is twice the AEG price.

Proportion faulty in the first 7 years:

    Miele 5%
    AEG 7%
    (Hoover, for comparison, 15%)

I bought this at BF based on the brand name and the price was the same as it is now. We have had an engineer out 3 times to look at it. The first time, the engineer acknowledged the problem (significantly loud and rubbing noise), then after looking at it he said it was perfectly fine when it was clearlynot. Second engineer came out and saw what the issue was but didn't have the replacement part, belt was rubbing causing the loud noise. Finally, the belt was replaced, but the noise has started to come back already.

Take this as a heads-up when purchasing, could just be a bad unit I received, luck of the draw, but..... Lastly, don't believe the bullsh*t engineers spout when insisting something is fine when it clearly isn't and escalate it.

My parents had similar issue with the AEG fridge. Engineer came out 3 times to look at it, 1st time didn't have parts, 2nd time fixed it temporarily then 3rd time declared it dead. Fridge was just over 2 years old.
AEG is just a fancy electrolux. Would avoid buying from them.

I bought this a couple of months ago, fed up with washing drying in the house, its been exelent so far, dries well and power consumption is low, should have bought it earlier.

You can try - always worth asking. But you may have to arrange a return at your own expense.
