Us site? Good deal but tax bad...

Why do people assume that because the prices are in US dollars that the site is in the USA
This is actually one of many Hong Kong / China sellers.
Its the same price at pandawill ( also free shipping , also based in China , also take paypal ).

The chances of getting stung for import tax are actually quite slim, as they usually declare a lower value than you pay on the customs document. If you do get stung the £13 royal mail charge for collecting the VAT will be higher than the actual tax bill.

Just to clear a few things up. This tablet does NOT have:
    GPS
inbuilt 3G ( you can attach certain dongles to the mini USB port)
1080p output ( the graphics chip is capable and will play 1080p files, but the screen obviously is not 1080p and it has no HDMI output to connect to a 1080p TV/ Monitor)

Ive had two of these and they're fine with all the apps that come from play store, ive had no problems at all and its a well built little thing, it does all that youd expect of ( say ) an Archos but at a third of the price... the A9 CPU is a single core but performs well and the 1gb ram gives you plenty of breathing space to run a few apps at a time. The inbuilt stoarge gives you about 6gb ish to store apps etc on plus theres the sd slot for up to 32gb on a card if you need it. Its fine for the internet but has no inbuil 3g slot so its wireless/hotspot for your surfing needs, its a capable browser too , however dont expect a lot form the fairly standard screen.

my biggest problem was the inbuilt keyboard, its terrible and defaults a lot to the chinese language, sort it by taking a better one from the paystore and this will be any kids excited xmas pressie, we paid 65 for ours form a UK supplier, if you can get one for 45 then your defo onto a winner!

    Heat added!:p

Nice, but are they are reliable retailer...?

Bought from them a couple of times, reliable in the sense of delivery but when it comes to faulty goods, firstly you will need to deal with the helpdesk in China, after my experience dealing with them, Indian helpdesk are a godsend. In my case they would use delaying tactics, e.g. not recieved email, nothing attached, send video, not reply for days, locked out/disabled FocalPrice account (luckily paid through Paypal, opened a dispute, still on going), I personally would not buy from them again, if you do, use Paypal or similar for that additional reassurance.

That's because not all market traders are the same. Some have arrangements with Inland Revenue (they will say so on their store front). Some time a product will have several market traders from China. Some will have IR arrangement and some don't. There are two types of feedbacks. Feedback for the product and feedback for the market trader. For example, last time the Ainol Fire had 7 Chinese market traders only 3 of them had IR arrangements. What happens is people select the cheapest of all the market traders for a specific product and then not look carefully whose price already included VAT and then stick their negative feedback on another trader! If market trader lies about their terms, Amazon are quick to take action against them. So I don't understand why that customer got stung as all he had to do was to file a complaint to Amazon.co.uk.
This is "HD Design" store front tax information :"HD Design Tax Information Prices are displayed inclusive of any applicable VAT. " and "HD Design Dispatch Policies
Orders from warehouse in China--- Singapore Post or Hongkong Post service.
Orders from warehouse in UK--- Royalmail First Class for UK; Royalmail Airmail for the other European Countries.
Orders from warehouse in Germany--- DEPL or DEHL for Germany; DEPEU,DEPEURM or DEDHL for the other European Countries."

I just bought on eBAY an amplifier from a Chinese trader in China. On their eBAY listing it stated tax paid and shipping from UK. After I bought it on eBAY the following day I got an email acknowledgement and then I got a Royal Mail tracking number. The goods were shipped from Wiltshire (logistics company warehousing the traders UK stock) the next day and entered the Royal Mail system and is now in Swindon depot being sorted. So you do have Amazon and eBAYPaypal to escalate to if the description was wrong. So I really cannot understand people moan about a trader and not take action with Amazon and eBAY!

If you want to use the web, you should aim for at least 1024x600, else you're going to be scrolling left or right all the time.

Spend a few quid more and get an elf / aurora / fire.

Not a UK deal, so why is this allowed here?

That said, if you are worried about the £13 Royal Mail / Parcelforce charge for clearing customs, ask the shippers to mark "Goods to be customs cleared by importer" clearly on the packaging. Whenever I have had this done, the thing has always sailed through customs without any additional delay or charge.

I also have a playbook that plays them back brilliantly, if they don't have AC3 audio. If they do then you get no audio at all, and its a real pain trying to determine this up front. My advice is to get a Nexus 7, root it and install stickmount and XBMC. This has played everything I have thrown at it so far flawlessly, and has the advantage that movies are stored on a pen drive, making it quick and convenient to change the content. It costs a little bit more, but it works well and consistently.

mediainfo - just right click on file and it tells you the audio codec

    can even do entire folders.

Careful, despite what this web site says, the Ainol web site says none of their present devices has GPS. Also 3G will be via "optional" dongle. Don't think this any good for SatNav, but happy to be proved wrong.

Had not for the SEP076X 8% code the price would have been the same (price + 20% VAT) as HD Design market place trader at Amazon.co.uk who collects the 20% VAT for the Inland Revenue so there would be no fear of import duty as you would have paid it! If you didn't pay import duty there is also a risk of nearly a tenner for the Post Office admin plus the time and fuel to get to a PO depot.
