I have it for few months good monitor but not for my use case scenario.
what I dislike if you have it next to an IPs panel with 400 nit you will see instantly few issues:
    - it’s dimmer
    -has a magenta around text
    - text it’s not sharp
so if you buy for work it’s not the best option
Aspect ratio it’s not ideal for playing games on consoles and consuming multimedia
Where it’s “shine” it’s in PCGAMING
This is my personal opinion after few months off use and second generation off panel arriving this year will solve some off the problem

There doesn't seem to be many 16:9 >32" monitors around that excel at both desktop use and gaming. They are either great with text but 60Hz or 120Hz+ but with poorer text display.

This has been a great monitor for me so far. It's quite a bit better than my last VA ultrawide. Everything just pops and is super clear. You don't know what you're missing until you try it. I'll summarise:
    • Super clear image during motion due to fast pixel response
    • Spectacular HDR with true blacks
    • Virtually no colour shifting at different viewing angles
    • Very low input lag for gaming

    There are a few negatives:
    • Very plastic-y build (it's still solid, but my budget ultrawide had a metal stand)
    • Triangular RGB pixel layout can take some getting used to (purple/green fringing especially noticeable on text)
    • Micro scratches/abrasions on the screen very common straight out of the box

I'll expand a bit on the scratches. I've mentioned it before in another post, but it is very, very easy to inflict micro scratches on this screen. Unfortunately, it seems within the manufacturing process and/or due to the packaging rubbing against the screen, it's not unusual to have some degree of scratching on the screen from factory. All three monitors I've tried had it. Fortunately, it's unlikely to be visible unless you have direct light shining on it.

Great summary. This about sums up my experience with it for the past 6 months.

It is incredible for gaming. There's no way I can go back to non-OLED displays now. It's also my first ultrawide, which helps with gaming immersion.

I also use it for productivity when I'm not on my laptop and don't find it to be much of an issue. I usually split windows down the middle.

I have 2 main gripes with this monitor:
    - the pixel shift/refresh that happens every couple minutes is too noticable if I have a spreadsheet open, or programming/web browsing. The pixel layout doesn't bother me at all, but this does and it's too noticeable. Understandably it's for the longevity of the display unit.
    - Switching between displays is tedious. Additionally, if I'm plugged in via HDMI for my laptop, whenever the screen goes on standby, it defaults to my Display Port if my PC is turned on. Just annoying as my standby timer is set to 2 minutes

Other than these, this monitor is incredible and if you love gaming, do yourself a favour and play Dead Space Remake on it! You won't regret it (edited)

Using this right now to look at this deal. Gorgeous monitor. QD OLED is next level, 165hz for gaming is mega. Don't regret my purchase at all, been flawless for the 9 months I've had it
    gtabuyer's avatar
Yep, you really gotta try OLED (especially QD-OLED) to realise what you've been missing out on.

How does it compare against the LG OLED C2 TVs?
    X-Cell's avatar
i have the LG C3 42" and think I'm better off.
    - Bigger 4k screen
    - 16 9 ratio just works in all games support no messing trying to get ultra wide to work.
    - Ultra wide is an still option if you really want it, still bigger than 34" I think
    - WOLED generally regarded as having less "burn in" issues
    - 120hz vs 165hz is really not noticeable
    - Use as a TV if you want, built in apps

I don't find it being a TV an issue for PC use. You can time the screen out and go into no signal mode then turn off after a set time. Yes you have to turn it on with a button the remote, big deal. Easy to change inputs compared to my actual monitor, just long press on remote select the 4 different inputs

Just wait for the £900 32” 4K to go on sale/discount, it’s much better than this.
    esk02k's avatar
As mainly a gamer I'm not in the least bit interested in 4k, I don't have kidneys to spare for the GPU (edited)

For those with a slightly bigger pocket:

    samsung.com/uk/…xu/

There are few options to knock money off - I've just had mine delivered and it cost me just under £1200 however with a free robot- vacuum RRP £599 - worth £350 really... There was also a decent monitor to choose instead free of charge.

Basically, I used my 15% birthday code (I guess you can just register to give one coming soon?) traded in old monitor for £100 and used app to knock off another 5%. There is also 10% offer without a trade-in if you prefer.

The way I see it the net cost was £850ish, and this one is a smart version so a totally different league.

    Hope it helps someone.

I'd rather get the Dell which comes with the far better 3 year warranty for burn-in. Samsung and LG are still being wishy washy about if they cover burn-in under warranty. (edited)
  8. Finnboy's avatar
I've had this for a while. Burn in warranty (hear that Samsung?) around 3/4 the pixels of a 4K so your gfx card will last a bit longer whilst you still enjoy the UW experience, superb gaming experience, genuinely beautiful. The not do good: Some text grinding so not for 100% WFH type use imo, still has bad packaging so check for micro scratches.
I wont be replacing this till it dies, out of warranty. It's a fantastic monitor.
Edit:A new firmware dropped a few weeks back but I've not installed as some report coil whine with new fw. (edited)
    joelfl2's avatar
I had micro scratches on all three I received. Even those who don't see them probably have some. I guess it's where foam protector rubs against the screen in transit.

    previously i liked this deal
    now i don't
OLED super fast response shouldn't be limited to 165

    240 minimum, seriously

what possible reason could you have to buy this?
    joelfl2's avatar
    What?
  11. BiffyBear's avatar
Tempting! Anyone use this for work as well? I would be using every day for work as well as gaming
    Finnboy's avatar
Here's the app to improve the text fringing :"Freetype", there are custom settings for this monitor on r/Monitors if my memory is correct. Clear Type doesn't work with this type of sub pixel layout. (edited)
  12. Mahoganyyyy's avatar
Really tempted by this but not sure OLED is for me given I do more work (coding, visual studio open for 7 hours a day) than I would game on it. Really stuck here. Not sure how longevous this would be in my use case.
    andy_mcnoob's avatar
I had the same issue (also stare at code all day). Bought a 4k OLED monitor from Amazon, but I could not handle the text fringing and clarity myself, so sent it back. In my case I have a really good 4k IPS monitor. But for gaming, the OLED was exceptional.
There are some OLED monitors that do have an RGB sub pixel layout, so they don’t have the text problems, but you will be spending around £3500 for those.
  13. _bayz's avatar
How much smaller is this compared to 2 side by side 27" 1440p monitors?

Been meaning to upgrade my MSI MAG272QR monitors, which have been amazing for productivity, but if I'm watching dark scenes in videos or playing games that have dark scenes, the smearing and blockiness has been awful :/
    Callumpy's avatar
34" UW is roughly the same height as a 27" monitor, and width is about the same as 1.5 monitors if that helps put it into perspective.

Partner has a super ultrawide and honestly I find that too wide, these are the sweet spot as you can see the whole screen without turning your head.
  14. Pokerkingbouch's avatar
Looking at a 3 monitor set up was originally going to go with the 32 inch 4k 240Hz there in my basket

buying 3 of these would save me over £1000

not sure what it would look like running x3 Ultrawide over the x3 AW3225QF

    any one help please (edited)
    YellowFlash10's avatar
3 ultrawide monitors just seems like overkill.

not well, better off with a 4k 16:9 panel.
  24. karls's avatar
I sent mine back. I was probably expecting too much, but I wanted it for gaming and for work.

For gaming, it is excellent, a joy to play on. For work, not great. The subpixel layout has noticeable fringing affecting clarity on text (I'm a coder). I found windows better at dealing with it than Mac, my Macbook was awful.

Decided to keep my old 34 ips.

I'm holding out, hopefully, for the next gen of oleds to manage to do both roles! (edited)
    zeb.mattey's avatar
1440p is just a very low res these days. Our eyes are used to phones with higher res than that on a 6" screen, and macbook retina displays. As soon as you blow it up it looks blurry.

I looked at one of these in selfrides today and honestly felt it was very fuzzy compared to my macbook and oled TV.
  25. Notmyrealname1985_'s avatar
Nice monitor, I had one for a few months but changed it as I wanted 4K and better text clarity. Tried many ClearType apps etc, never got it to a satisfactory quality. Oh and literally the first game I tried didn't support UW, Dragon Quest Builders.
  26. Britpix's avatar
Every time this comes on sale I get tempted but I like to do a lot of reading for uni and writing. Maybe I should just consider a miniled instead.
  27. zeb.mattey's avatar
doesnt this res look kind of low these days?
    joelfl2's avatar
Nah, not if you're sitting about 70cm or so away. Pixels Per Inch (PPI) is roughly equivalent to 4K at 40" - nowehere near as bad as 1920x1080 at 27". There are OLED monitors that have worse PPI than this - Gigabyte AORUS FO48U, Philips Evnia 42M2N8900, and AOC AGON Pro AG456UCZD just to name a few.
  28. esk02k's avatar
Got mine, took a while to get it dialled in nicely and update the firmware etc. but its pretty impressive once you get the HDR tuned properly, I do wish it was taller coming from a 32" but its very immersive.52644977-BvGPW.jpg

this one, more like same Samsung Screen but less of the price
  32. joeydied's avatar
I need a new ~34" gaming monitor as my 2x27" wont fit on my desk with my new PC.
    I have 2x cheapo 4k but 60hz monitors.
This looks good but is the fact its not 4k an issue? (edited)
    joelfl2's avatar
It'll be easier for your GPU to push pixels for this (3440x1440) compared to a 4K (3840x2160) monitor, so you should see better performance in games. The fact it's not 4K is not an issue in itself, but the Pixels Per Inch (PPI) will be lower than with 4K at 27" (109.68 vs. 163.18 PPI); it's not terrible by any means, but you might notice the pixels if you look too close!
  33. fearmikl's avatar
Great monitor. Only two issues for me are

    - I spend my time wishing it was 38” instead
    - Having to deal with UPS when you first order it

Had mine about a month and it's superb. Mind you I only use it for gaming and and use a 2nd screen for day to day stuff.
    fishmaster's avatar
Aye sensible doing that. This isn't a productivity monitor leaving menus on the screen all day, that will end in pain. For media and gaming it is excellent.

I had a noticeable shadow in the aw3423dw where the task bar was after 21 months. Dell agreed rma straight away and the "refurbished" replacement was brand new in retail box

It was on with the task bar showing 8 hours a day 5 days a week for that time to give you some idea of what it takes.
