Cheaper to get an NUS card and just pay £40 a year for student Prime, plus get 5% off orders.

Can't say I've had any problems with canceling,in fact my Mrs did the 30 day trial and forgot to cancel, she got onto Amazon live chat a few days after they took the payment and explained she forgot to cancel, they said it wasn't a problem and gave her a full refund.

That's why Amazon do well, no hidden tricks or anything. The total opposite of "Gourmet Society" who push trials and A) Hope you forget to cancel OR B) Have a ridiculous amount of time that you have to cancel a trial by. They take money about 2 weeks before the end of your trial. Joke. Won't refund you even though your trial ain't up! A pathetic company who have no morales or good business practise! I was a victim to B)! Sorry to compare two totally different services but this just highlights Amazon CS all over.

Why would anyone pay for prime. Had it 4 years now, never paid a penny.

Great idea. I will quit my job right now, become a student and rejoice in my £19 saving.

Simply use a different email address

Which is fine if you don't care about your order history, or you keep records of all your accounts.

I have Amazon order history going back to 2003. Useful when you have things go faulty and you retrace the order to find out it they had lifetime warranties etc..

Voted hot even though I'll be signing up for the £40 student deal in a couple of days. Prime has been good to me these last few months.

I did it for my Mum in law because she is a dong and went over her free trial period. Changed it to month by month then cancelled. Got an immediate full refund on both even though she had gone over. All online with no contact needed. I wouldn't believe horror stories about Amazon, just contact them, they will bend over backwards for you. I would not say the same about many other companies, I am in dispute 3 at the moment, 1 has just been resolved but 2 are pending. I ain't no pushover and have been waiting for this deal to come up, signed up and have already saved money by cancelling my pending order on another account lol

That is roughly £4.91 a month.

And you're getting access to prime delivery, prime now, prime video, photo storage, Kindle library and music.

    Definitely worth it.

Personally I can never justify paying £60 or £80 for Prime. 1 day delivery to an Amazon locker is only £1.99 & delivery for orders over £20 obviously free. Amazon Prime video certainly isn't worth paying for & is a poor relation to Netflix or NowTV.

Do you still need to buy over £20 if you have prime membership?

No, unless it's add on items.
  23. killabyte's avatar
£13 for a Nus card then £40 for Amazon Prime = £53. Why not just chip in the extra £6 and get Amazon prime without NUS card. I know I would pay the extra £6 to cut out the faffing around.

Gonna buy this later today! £59. Hope it's worth it.

Many items cheaper of usually stuff we don't need? Do you still need to spend min £20 for next day delivery?

I accidentally signed up to Prime last year and cancelled straight away as I didn't want it then, would I still be classed as a "new" member and eligible for the discount now?

I cancelled my Prime Membership 2 weeks ago - I just signed back up with the same email address for £59.

All the streaming services on prime are good too. its worth getting a fire stick or fire tvbox to take advantage of these.

Most items that are prime are a few quid more than marketplace. So it's a bit pants. It was a waste for me. Doubt I'll be renewing

I didn't renew my Prime membership earlier this year, a month later they sent me an offer for £20 credit if I signed up again. Not sure if everyone would get it, but it might be worth bearing in mind if anyone is on the fence about renewing.

I found that during the free trial month, you'll pay a bit more versus other sellers (often), although next day and Sunday delivery for free was really nice, it's not a money saver. More often than not the same items I wanted would be available on ebay with free shipping for less. I never found a use for any of the other services either. If you regularly buy from Amazon and sometimes pay for expedited shipping then it would be worth it, more so if you're likely to use their video service.

Isn't that fraud unless you're actually a student?

Find a discount to use at E-Careers.co.uk, and buy a course for a few pounds, then continue on and sign up for an NUS card, which is a totally legitimately way of geting an NUS card.
