the hudl has a high screen resolution, so doubt it being physically smaller has anything to do with it.

How about trying to put a tick in a check box in settings, almost impossible to do without a pen.
And high resolution's all very well if you can actually read web pages without enlarging them and then having to scroll sideways as well as up and down.
Smallness has very much to do with it, imo

Actually I'm going to vote this cold. Having played about with a few tablets now, they're just not as reliable as a small laptop running either linux or windows.. It may be ok if you're paying up to (say) £100 but over £200.. Sometimes you can't install some ap because of the model of the tablet or the version of android it's running.
They don't usually run as fast. Internally they have a very small amount to permanent memory. Parts are not replacable, afaict. So if something goes wrong you just have to throw the thing away.
And if something stops working, who you're gonna call?
    An evolutionary dead end :-)

I had the tf300t for a few months. Very similar model, I guess.

The only really good thing about it was the connections (USB, sd, etc) and the nice big screen for video watching.

As a day to day tablet though it was pretty clunky.

Recently sold it, and got a Hudl which has been vastly superior in usage, much zippier, etc

If you want to know more about this tablet, check out a guy called vgjfelix on youtube, he did like loads of videos on it.

Friend has one of these, absolutely love the keyboard dock which doubles up as an extra battery. Overall, the thing has 18 hours of juice!

TF300----Recently sold it, and got a Hudl which has been vastly superior in usage, much zippier.

The HUDL is useless, bought one for my son and tried the SD card with AVI's on it from my TF300 and the HUDL would not even try to play them, took it back and tried three different HUDL's with the SD card and non of them would try to play the AVI's,
I know it wasn't the card because it Does work in my wife's TF 101.

Used to have a TF101 and loved it. Sold it to get a Nexus 7. Recently got a TF300 from the Asda deal - hate it. The battery drains rapidly for no reason when not using it - even after giving up and factory resetting it.

It's now on ebay after buying an Acer c720 Chromebook

I love my Transformer Prime - still use it now after buying new back in 2012. Things to watch out for on refurbed models:

    * keyboard dock misuse leading to bad lock with tab or keyboard flex
    * data/power cable not snug (the prime was notorious for having too short a lead, which meant it got snagged a lot if you used it whilst plugged in - not that this should be necessary very often!)
    * light bleed from screen on early models (shouldn't see one like this now)
    * dock battery not working after one power cycle (after it runs out of charge it doesn't charge back up again - this ought to have been fixed under warranty or during refurb though)
    * and GPS is not very good - got removed from spec after I bought mine

If you can avoid app bloat, you'll find the Prime will run very snappily, and the keyboard is very very good (for it's size). Also, it looks gorgeous, even in champagne gold.

I own one, and the extremely poor wifi signal makes this a worthless tablet that gets left unused on a dusty shelf. Asus got sued by class act in US about the horrible design of this model.

surely that's an app issue, not playing avi files.
or did it not even read the SD card?

I have a nexus 7 and when fully loaded its laggy compared to a newer HP slate 7 with admittedly lower res screen but much snappier with everything.

the nexus screen is lovely though. I wonder if Android tabs have gotten internally better since as newer tabs seam to work faster ie less laggy

Got one of these quite early on. Screen is very nice and bright (not as high res as the current gen of tablets however), keyboard dock is awesome, great keyboard, adds a lot of extra battery life, and a full sized SD card slot and full sized USB port is very handy

Downsides, the wifi is pretty poor. I was sat in a hotel lobby sat next to my brother who has an ipad 2, my TF201 kept dropping out and only had 1 bar, his was solidly holding connection around 3 bars. I was constantly moving around trying to stay connected. Also, it is pretty sluggish at times. There is a well written about I/O issue which really stifles performance. Just try updating a handful of Apps from the Play store and trying to do something else! There are numerous tweaks and different ROMs which people have reported various results from, just check XDA-Developers. I've got CyanogenMod running on there and I noticed an improvement in performance over stock but still not amazing.

Probaly, IMO, the best looking tablet ever made, the build quality is superb. Just a shame about the wifi problems. I was lucky enough not to suffer them with my model but read around and enough people did. Tempted by this but really really dont need it.... arrrgghhhh

Having win 8.1 on the likes of the t100 is much more useful than say android, certainly for my wife's use as she needs to run Windows programs and the convenience of having a detachable tablet is useful.
