These are great for encouraging plant growth. No, really! Push one down just below the soil level and its vibrations will help aerate the soil, de-compact it, making root growth easier and distributing fertiliser, especially liquid fertiliser, more evenly. It's particularly good for deeper-rooting plants and especially vegetables such as potatoes, as the looser soil means less resistance to tuber growth. All it needs is four or five minutes per seedling, once or twice a week. I think the vibrations also discourage moles, as the garden has had far fewer of them since I started using these. Convinced? Neither was the person who found mine....oO

i wouldn't want my kids browsing this site if the deals include vibrators … i wouldn't want my kids browsing this site if the deals include vibrators and condoms or at least hide these threads so only 18+ could see or something lol

If I had kids I'd be more concerned about the early sexualization of younger people - eg. via media / pop videos / fashion - than them being aware of what adults get up to. Let's face it they all grow up some day and if you create suspicion by developing the notion of adult norms as "naughty secret behaviours!" that's only going to encourage their curiosity. A more open approach seems to work OK on the continent where young adults tend to be more mature in their approach and better informed :

I agree, should create a 18+ thread for these sorts of things.

Or create a Ned Flanders section where people who are scared of what happens in the real world can browse soft toy and slipper deals.

Why would anyone who wasn't old enough and mature enough to know what one of these things was for be browsing a forum like this??

I'd think my kids were total weirdos if they were using the internet to come on HUKD rather than looking for GTA V cheats or watching 1D videos on YouTube. Kids see things they want, or are the latest trend that their friends have, and ask for them, they couldn't give a monkey's chuff how much those things cost. Can't understand why kids would be on HUKD...

Let's get in the real world here peeps.

I agree with the first part, but I don't know how you then concluded that … I agree with the first part, but I don't know how you then concluded that "a more open approach" is the reason for a lower teenage pregnancy rate, and then you conveniently provided a graph to try and push home the message. Was the graph created by taking "a more open approach" as a control? Was there some sort of statistical significance tests done to show "a more open approach" is a significant variable for teenage pregnancy rate to be lower in a nation? Daily Mail like rhetoric.

Oh man, please, for the love of life make sure this person is never my neighbour, I just could not cope!

Was that you at my door the other day by any chance? Preaching..........

Real world? In the real world plenty of kids will come onto this forum. … Real world? In the real world plenty of kids will come onto this forum. There are many reasons to do so, like plenty of gadgets and games. Not all kids will have a rich daddy or mummy buying them whatever they want whilst mindlessly browsing the net like in your world. Sites like these can help them.

In the real world kids would not even be slightly bothered or worried about a condom or a vibrator. They are all well aware of what they are and what they are for, and knowing about condoms from a young age is proven to be a very healthy place to be.
Kids discuss far more than this.

It's generally some of the immature adults on this site who are scared that their kids might see a condom, going onto tampon and ladies underwear deals and making silly comments. Weirdly British attitude that holds the country back and means that the nation suffers one of the worst sexual health and teen pregnancy records. When are we going to stop listening to these repressed old prudes and bring this into the 21st century? Don't they realise their attitude is counter productive?

My childrens school did a musical play for years 8s upwards. Included a condom and a sexual health message. Schools teach sexual education from year 7 (11 years old) including and by then they all know what a condom is anyway. THAT is "real world".

Thank goodness things are improving and these old fashioned Ned Flanders types are going the way of the dinosaurs. For the good of us all.

    Rant over.

Where exactly did I say I bought my kids whatever they want? How can you possibly know any information about me from what I posted there? I think you're way out of order posting what you did.

My kids don't mindlessly browse the internet, they browse things that interest them. Saving money, like almost every kid I know, isn't part of their make up. Like I said, they see the latest fad and come to me asking if they can have it. I then look to see the cost, and if I can afford it, I come on here to see if I can get a better deal. If I cannot afford it, they are told no way.

If you're bringing kids up to come on here first to look for a good deal, good on you, but I'd rather my kids do what I did when I was a kid, pester the old folks for stuff with no thought for what it costs. That's what being a kid is all about, wanting the world, but not always getting it. I got knocked back for loads of things as a young 'un, didn't affect me 1 bit.

Kids coming on here looking for deals aren't being kids IMO, they're having their childhood dictated to by adults controlling their thinking.

My kids are 12 an 8, have no knowledge of HUKD, and I'd class them as weird if they were browsing here. At 15 or 16 when they need to start thinking about money stuff, then I could understand them coming here. BUT, at 15 or 16, I'd expect them to have knowledge of what a vibrator is all about as this is the way general society is these days. So I cannot see a problem in posting these type of deals.
