According to the back of the "can" this is BMW long life approved, but when i had a 330ci i didnt use anything but Edge either. This is not VW 508 spec and so wont be suitable for Audi's (FSI engines) either.

If your driving a decent German or Jap motor this probably wont be for you, everything else though is A-Ok.

I have a Toyota and it recommends 5w/30 for me. Will have a look in Leicester later. Never had it at this price when I have seen posted previously though :(

5w will operate better than 10w at low temperatures as it is thinner i believe.

Viscosity is a measure of the resistance of a fluid which is being deformed by either shear stress or tensile stress. In everyday terms (and for fluids only), viscosity is "thickness" or "internal friction". Thus, water is "thin", having a lower viscosity, while honey is "thick", having a higher viscosity. Put simply, the less viscous the fluid is, the greater its ease of movement (fluidity).

Lower number - how well oil operates at low temperatures
Higher number - how well oil operates at high temperatures

in UK climate 0w30 is probably about perfect, though depends what your manufacturer recommends.

Great price for a great lube. Just don't go putting it in your motorbike!

Heat added.
#23
will this give my car an increase in bhp?
#24
Don't use it in a turbo car either, especially if it has a leak.
It will get around other parts and coat the sensors, which will stop them working, and give engine management issues.

As far as the oil weight goes, you can stretch the upper and lower limits a little, without harm.

I have to bristle at the marketing blurb. I'd love to know how they infer intelligence to a molecule.

If you need an oil change you'll get a better price all in at National Tyres. £25 including filter and up to 8 litres of this stuff.

No and dont believe any chemical that says it will. Additives at the very most will slightly boost the octane number of your fuel, reducing pre-ignition and making the engine run more smoothly. A nice oil change can always be noticed but dont kidd yourfself into thinking your car is more powerful. Most chemical additives do little or nothing.

To get more real power (so minor things like airkits out the window) you have 3 routes :
1) Reprograme your ECU (particularly effecitve on turbo cars)
2) Fit a supercharger or turbo (this will most likely knacker every other part of your car in the process)
3) Buy a more powerful car and dont waste your money on 1 - 2.

I recommend 3. :)

Recomend 3 ....
More Insurance premium
More fuel expense
More road tax
Probably expensive maintenance
...
Thanks I will put this oil in my corsa and will get about 20HP increase.

People best to check your car manufactors hand book for the correct grade of oil rather than asking on a forum as you'll most likely end up with the wrong answer, if you use the wrong oil you will invalidate your warranty and could cause engine problems.

Also pay close attention to the grade of the oil too which is very important, if you car specifies ACEA-C3 do not use ACEA-C1 etc

Utter nonsense. You will NEVER get a 20bhp increase in a corsa from adding oil. Not in a million miles of terrible GM motoring. As for your other points they are also utter tripe.

I happen to have a 09 plate188bhp BMW 520d (2-3times the power of a normal Corsa), my road tax is £110 a year, i get 58mpg (thats not a sales figure, its what i get) my insurance is £350 (a mute point as it is dependant on the driver) and my maintenace is typically £150 a year.

Their is NO subsitute for good engineering - and a bottle of Oil will make diddly squat difference. The only possible argument is that my type of car costs a fair bit new but then again it will be worth something at the end, unlike most mass produced GM eggboxes.

The chaps orginal question was "will this give me more brake horse power". I gave him an honest answer in good faith, if you want to pick holes in it and delude yourself that this is going to give a 30% power boost (on base spec Corsa) - Go nuts! Its still a great deal.

has anybody else bought this apart from the op???

not yet.. but if i find out wher in leicester, i defo plan to..........btw OP I was looking at the new BMW 520d too.... great car
