They make it seem like they are doing it out of the goodness of their own hearts every year, but as you say, they have to as part of the deal. So only show it in non HD format .

Since this has been posted YET AGAIN, I may as well repost my comment from last year. Every year I log onto this site and see this so called 'deal', and every single time without fail it ruins my day. What a joke.

Cold cold cold cold cold, this has always been free on ITV in the past, BT bought the rights and only made the two European finals free because they were contractually obliged to do so.

    1. They deserve NO credit whatsoever for making it free - as mentioned, they're only doing it because they have to
    2. This is NOT a deal. The match has always been free. Before BT Sport came and stole the rights, putting the vast majority of games behind a paywall, many European games were free to watch on ITV for decades. Far from being a 'deal', the offering non-paying viewers are provided with now is the bare minimum and nothing compared to what we used to be able to enjoy

STOP POSTING THESE NON DEALS EVERY SINGLE YEAR. If something's normally paid, then that means it's a deal to get it for free. If it's been free for decades, it's not a deal. (edited)

Why are you so worked up about it? Yes it was free before too on ITV, but people may not know it will be on YouTube now.

Its a UEFA stipulation to make it look like UEFA are doing something for the fans when selling the rights to non-FTA broadcasters.

I don't think it means it necessarily has to be available on a linear channel anymore (maybe this is what you mean?) - just that we have to be able to watch it somewhere live (hence Youtube and the website).

Will the game be free to watch on YouTube?

I really dont need female commentators, its bad enough the ex girl footballers get punditry jobs as they are cringe as hell to listen too and watch. The likes of Laura woods, Jules Breach, Kate Abdo, Kelly Daglish etc are great, but these box ticking ex players are awful.

How embarassing would it be for UEFA, to let a team like Man City - with whom they've had/are having legal battles with, and whose fans boo their anthem - win their most prestigious trophy it would be like UEFA being cucked.

As long as the money keeps rolling in I doubt UEFA will spend more than a millisecond crying over Man City winning it. (edited)

City couldn’t even stay in the top division before their money. Game has gone. All about which team has the richest owners. May as well decide who wins via that method rather than bothering to play any games.

BT Sport are shameless. Imagine taking the best competition and having it completely behind a paywall. I can’t wait till ITV has some games back in the future. I really wanna hear Mcmanaman tell me how much English sides are better even when they’re losing. The BT sport team was praising Chelsea for losing 2-0 at the Bernabeu and like Super Frank had pulled off some miracle (edited)

Will it be on Freeview TV though ?

I don't think it will, loads of older folk / folk without smart TVs will miss out.

My 90 year old dad has BT sport / YouTube so can watch it on his iPad, but would be good if they had it on normal TV too.

They used to do it I think, but not the last few years. (edited)

A few years ago, I used to subscribe to BT Sport, but the coverage would usually get laggy and drop out. That was despite my PC and internet connection far exceeding their minimum specifications.

I even e-mailed a BT director and they tried doing some diagnostics.
I had no such problem with BBC iPlayer or other channels.
So I dropped the BT subscription.

Oddly enough, the same thing started happening during the second half coverage on their You Tube channel.

I watched the first half on bt sport youtube. 720 throughout

Downloaded the bt sport app and pristine 1080p for the second half

Regardless, finals should never be held in an athletic stadium with distance zoomed cameras, 50% of the attendance from sponsors, Awful coverage, tame game , right result.

YouTube is always going to be crap, unless you pay
