sorted byYour problem i see, needed Yodel you did.
Yoda delivery company still progress in work, it is.
so you are basically stealing FIFA codes?
My 3rd one is as quiet as a mouse - just turned it on after setting up and I'm sure some of you know the dread you feel when you press that power button for the first time ! You are half expecting the worst and hoping for the best. I was honestly expecting another loud one - even the missus was joking saying she reckons it will take 4 before I get a quiet one.
It is LOT 1637 and manufacture date of 7th August with red fuse cover on the plug. The difference is clear even with the figures from the dB sound app, the loud 2nd one was measuring 40-41dB this afternoon with the phone laid just in front of the eject button ... This one is measuring 33-34dB in the same position.
I'm over the moon, it's been a right pain and took the shine off a little, after getting it for such a great price. Now I can hopefully enjoy it and get stuck into Forza Horizon 3 almost a week after it arrived on launch day.
As others have said before me ... To the guys in here still with loud machines, stick at it and keep going until you get one you're happy with as the difference is night and day and it will all be worth it.
I'm sat here in a properly silent man cave and it's updating and the sound is not bothering me in the slightest - it's just the noise of the fan moving air and the HDD being accessed.
Also I can tilt my head 45 degrees either way now and no high pitched "Eeeeeeeh" noise in my ears anymore - the difference from my 2nd machine is unreal. I'm chuffed to bits ! :-)

What about a 500GB Xbox One?
I wasn't 100% sure if my 1st one was faulty but after hearing how quiet my new one is, it definitely was!
It's a lot 1366 with a red plug and is whisper quiet. All I can hear is the hard drive and the air from the fan, no buzzing at all (it sounds exactly like the recording B45H3R made).
The fab buzzing is definitely not normal and is definitely not the hard drive making a noise.
I was nearly ready to pack it in and go down the refund route, but happy that there are good consoles out there.
If you have a noisy one, keep going with the returns as you'll eventually get a good one.
Thanks for all the help and updates in this thread, as I doubt I would have gone through all the effort without it.
I expect it'll be £179 in the morning anyway
Wow gave them my order number and they said are you calling about the £25 refund?
Then I asked how did you know?
"I have just spoken to three other customers about this" - He sure loves his job
You can connect external hard drive and get more storage and still will cost less than the 1tb Xbox.
After seeing this post today I rung them again saying that with the ecoupon of £25 off £150 and the price promise, that makes it £50 cheaper than original price!
So the lady refunded me the £25 ecoupon amount and said the price promise amount of £25 would automatically be refunded to me in a few days.
So far Ive had £30 back in refunds! So at the moment ive only paid £176.10!
If the price promise of £25 gets refunded thats only £151.10 paid in total, happy days!
Not too demanding then oO
Didn't happen . CEX don't give that cash amout for any current xbox one consoles
I just got off the phone with Tesco (surprised their call centre was open till 11pm). Before i got to finish my sentence the chap asked if it was about the Xbox one s pricing and i said yes. He advised that Tesco have now made the decision to refund all orders of £224 with £25 because they know the annoyance of everyone and don't want to be in a position where people keep re-ordering and returning.
There will be an email sent out about this in the next 2 days regarding the refund and it will take about 2 working days to happen. I suggest that you still call them (you have 11 minutes - 0800 323 4050) just to confirm but i'm happy they've take this stance after all the complaints. Hope this helps.
Why would anyone send a code before payment was made????
Glad I've got your goat up that much you feel the urge to start name dropping me to anyone n everyone in here.
I'm surprised such an established executive with your "net worth" is even wanting to communicate with the mere mortals who reside in here?
Anyway get yourself off to your local CEX flower, that mansion on the Côte d'Azur won't pay for itself eh (_;)
You're both pretty sad.
Considering the fans don't seem to work properly, hotter than it should be
Just found this thread today despite having the Xbox One S from Tesco for a few days, I haven't played much Forza Horizon 3 yet but the fan is louder than I would like in a quiet man cave - I have a launch day PS4 and it's loud but in a different less annoying way.
I'm normally the first guy in the queue to replace something I'm not 100% happy and content with but not sure I will on this one - still undecided as no guarantee you will get a quiet one as some on here have shown as they await their third One S.
I measured the noise albeit with a dB sound app and it's consistent with what Digital Foundry and a Console repair video on YouTube found ... Around 40-42dB either idle or playing games.
Anyway I have picked up another few bits of info on my internet travels about this issue and thought I would share it.
A Brazilian guy on YouTube or reddit said he just opened his up (those crazy Brazilians don't care for warranties) and said he replaced 2 dodgy ball bearings in the fan and it's quiet as a mouse now.
Another guy in America had just walked into a Microsoft store (apparently one in every mall in the US) and they just switched it for him but he said that "Corporate" at Microsoft recognised this in the company as an issue on 19/9 and were issuing statements to resellers like newegg and Amazon etc in the US at least - nothing mentioned at UK/Worldwide level yet.
So if the MS big wigs have acknowledged it and Microsoft told someone on here that they have oodles of quiet ones in their support office then it seems there is a widespread issue coming.
Anyway just thought I'd share the bits I'd seen on my travels - not sure what I am going to do ... This machine was more or less a FH3 machine for just a year until I likely get a Scorpio.
I can see myself going back and forward between keeping it and deciding not to and ringing Tesco direct to change it - I guess we all have time on our side to make a decision or see how this pans out.
Cheers.

For Christ sake, honestly, MS are a complete liability. They've learnt nothing from the red ring of death farce have they. The MAIN reason I've had a PS4 this whole gen so far is due to the RROD and the pathetic handling of that and yet 10 years on, here we all are yet again playing console lottery with MS. Totally ridiculous.
I am very fussy when it comes to fan noise and my One S passes the test!
Brilliant there is hope for us fellow fussy whine/click sufferers - let's hope when this saga is done we all end up with a console just producing the sound of moving air.
Enjoy man.
Haha seriously? God sake... This is like trying to buy something you really want from a really dodgy car park market from a couple of chavs who are hell bent on stitching everyone up.
Didn't know you could trade in download codes at CEX though?
Burn it?
