Watch the whole review, but make sure to check out the 3200MHz to 4800MHz ram setting tweak at 4mins 38secs if you were to buy this good little minipc. Also make sure to do a clean Win11 Pro install. OS will activate without the need for the windows serial key and all drivers will install.

I bought this a month ago, did a clean os install and have this as my daily driver now. Put the bigger i3 10100f pc on sleep. This feels quicker to me compared to its bigger brother. Its really quiet, hardly notice it.

    Does this come with Windows?
    TheStill's avatar
Bought from a previous deal and it came with windows 11. Although for safety you'll probably want to wipe and reinstall.

Or you could just get this from Amazon for next day for a few quid more £30 off at the moment: amzn.eu/d/4…ZGj
    igsey's avatar
That has a N5095 vs this which has an N100. The N100 is two years newer and uses a third of the power, so it's much more suited to being an always-on type machine (server etc.).
  3. tdd's avatar
Is this suitable for a plex server, mostly streaming 1080p and occasionally 4k for only 1 user?
    CyDoNiA's avatar
Yep they can transcode 4K or play it directly as Plex servers. Running one here doing all that.

For anyone interested in capabilities, here’s everything I’m running on mine in Proxmox. The Truenas Scale VM and Windows VM use the most resources and push me close to the 16GB RAM this has, but I tend to keep the Windows VM off most of the time so I normally have the overhead.

Nice. Have they access to the hardware encode and decode hardware capability?

2 x RJ45 is crazy. However, it's good value for money. One problem I see is that it's cheaper to pay in USD, but safest to put on a CC. Is there a card that covers both?
    bantuBantu's avatar
Section 75 doesn't apply anyway because its under £100.

For what it’s worth, I bought this little machine and have been blown away by its performance for the price and low power demand.

It can emulate all the way up to Wii U and I have been thoroughly enjoying many games at 1080p 50-60FPS.
    philipmarkmurphy's avatar
Same here, it's a cracking little emulation machine

    will this run Zwift?
    FieryGasoline's avatar
Can confirm it runs zwift perfectly, bought one in the last deal and have been using it with zwift for the past few weeks

i'm confused (also know almost nothing about chips)
the product description says " Intel Celeron N5095 N100" but aren't those different chips?
    This video would suggest so:
    bren4's avatar
I'm just as confused by this. The listing states N100 and N5095 in almost equal measures. They are different CPUs, with the N100 being more recently and better. N100 released in 2023, N5095 released in 2021.
Title says "Intel Celeron N5095 N100"
    The item buttons says "N100"
The product sellpoints say "features an Intel Celeron N5095 processor"
    The product information list both.
Very confusing. I wonder if the listing has been modified (badly) since this deal went live and they sold a bunch of N100 systems, and now downgraded it N5095 on the quiet.

I see above mention of pfsense and opnsense, has anyone actually tried it?

Wanting one for home networking/gateway logging to replace the parental controls from an isp, as really the isp only does a blacklist filter on dns, and I want to learn pfsense, but not at the cost of one of the netgate units.
    tristan_k90's avatar
Yes. I bought this last time it was on here and I use it as my home router/firewall with opnsense. Expected issues but honestly it has been solid. FYI, I installed proxmox then opnsense as I also run some containers on there (adguard)

    No.

techrepublic.com/art…ey/ someone has got some more detailed specs. They say it's usb 3.2 10gb/s and some others have used usb-c 4-bay caddy and it appears to work well.
  13. Turrican's avatar
I bought one of these months ago. Perfect for Jellyfin. The only problem I have is the internal fan runs for about 30 seconds, then stops for about 10 seconds and then runs for another 30 seconds... repeat. I can't see the fan lasting a long time if it keeps doing this. This happens on both Windows 11 and Linux.
Fan control software can't see the fans, and there's nothing in the bios.
    SteamedLobster's avatar
How can you tell? I literally cannot hear mine but it might well be doing this? Do you just keep checking it?
  14. Jjbinx007's avatar
If anyone does a reinstall, if you want to make a backup of all the drivers first you can use one of these commands here: elevenforum.com/t/b…78/

Someone posted earlier on how you can obtain a copy of the Windows licence too.

These are amazing value, better than a Raspberry Pi imo. The only downside is the wifi units aren't Wifi 6, I get a max speed of around 350mb/s when it's quite close to the router. But heck, you're getting the equivalent of a 6th gen i5 with 16gn and a 500gb SSD for £95 that costs next to nothing to run, so it's a no brainer.

Can anyone recommend a MFF or SFF sized computer with sufficient CPU grunt and ram that can be used to edit images in Photoshop/Lightroom?

Any suggestions or recommendations gratefully received.
  16. MiloW's avatar
I bought a couple of these when they were on offer a few weeks ago.
    hotukdeals.com/sha…722

    Great little machines.
One running Batocera for my old arcade / console fix.
One with an upgraded SSD and a fresh Windows 11 install to replace my wife's old desktop, (edited)
    FREEZIN_WOLF's avatar
I was going to ask if this was any good for an arcade build.

I'm tempted to build one, despite being absolutely convinced that I'd never use it.
  17. eldresso's avatar
Would that be good for a home NAS/cloud, running 2 hdd's or is it better to buy ready solution from Synology, Qnap, Terramaster etc.?
    MiloW's avatar
It's likely far cheaper than a named brand NAS and should be better performing (processor wise) at the same price point.

You would obviously be limited to 1Gb networking and USB3 disk speeds, but honestly I'd still probably choose this over a NAS.

Note: this would offer more flexibility in terms of operating system and freedom to choose your own software etc.

There is no charge on items under £135, what are you talking about?
  19. Julian_Parker's avatar
Any advice on economically adding storage (4+ TB) to this? Not overly concerned at speed as long it can function as a plex server. I'm thinking USB 3 dual HDD enclosure.
    MiloW's avatar
It'll run as a Plex server just fine.
Depends on how cheap you want to get, but a USB3 2.5" HDD would be fine for serving media up.
  20. SuperFlyBlues's avatar
I know some people have recommended a fresh install of Windows, but are we aware of anyone finding any dodgy software on one of these machines? Also, if there were any dodgy software on a machine would a fresh Windows install guarantee being rid of it? (edited)
    SteamedLobster's avatar
No one from previous deals has found any malware on these.

Ordered. £86.81 via USD. Hopefully TCB tracks. Been after something to make my WFH power usage a bit less as the desktop is power hungry with 5 drives, large GPU etc all whirring away when I'm just VPNing in to the work system. Thanks OP!
    Jjbinx007's avatar
This will probably pay for itself in a year
  23. Mr.Heater's avatar
Already have 1 using as home pc. upgraded the Wifi card as mentioned in previous deal. Now this shows £78 with coins & code when paying in USD. Tempted to order but don't need another. Good price for the configuration.

I currently use a Pi 5 as a libreelec box for watching media stored on an SSD.

Would this be a suitable replacement?
    arthurplank's avatar
Yes, although you might not notice much difference unless your stored media is AV1 encoded.
  26. Turrican's avatar
Has anyone copy of the Windows drivers they can share?
    CyDoNiA's avatar
There's a command you can use to back drivers up. Should be articles online however everything is detected by Windows anyway although you'll want to install latest gpu drivers probably.
  27. Moss.b's avatar
Is there a better version with better cpu for a little more?
    nomnomnomnom's avatar
I agree with the above that the N100 is the best spot for value by far, but there is a N200. This has slightly better clock speeds and a slightly better iGPU.
At best, it's around 70 quid more, which IMO isn't worth it for such a small increase.

If you want more of a jump in performance and cost, then look at the 5700U (or similar). They come in at ~£170 without a SSD and RAM. You can also buy that with most packages from Ali, or grab your own from Ebay / box of spares if you have things in there.
  28. iButAtWhatCost's avatar
I appreciate it’s not the most powerful CPU but has anyone tried football manager on this, presumed it would be ok as long as matches are in 2D?
    Jmart0's avatar
Could use a service such as boosteroid

    Noob question please...

When I upgrade my phone, I just put it next to the old one and all the apps, photos etc move across. Simple.

Is there a way I can do this on a PC like this? Transferring from my old pc.

    Thank you.
    sulyl's avatar
Yes, but it’s not advised here. You can clone your disk over which will move all your files and programs and everything but given this will be completely different hardware to what you are using currently, I’d advise against it. In the past when I’ve done this and changed hardware, I’ve always found some sort of weird issue down the line and ended up just starting with a clean install. Different hardware means different drivers needed for everything and even after grabbing all the correct drivers, some programs don’t play as nice to major hardware changes and can play up.

The other thing you could do is have your files all backed up to OneDrive, then when you sign in on the new system it will pull all your files back. However your programs will need to all be manually reinstalled.

Unfortunately windows doesn’t have a convenient way to switch all of your system stuff over the same way a phone can.

will this actually emulate PS2 games well, or does it choke on a lot of them?
    AK81's avatar
Chews them up according to a review I saw, starts to struggle on PS3 games though.

For anyone interested, here is what the SSD looks like:

    52589762-jFu3A.jpg52589762-leyfr.jpg
And of course, the Windows license is a Volume one as you'd expect - might get killed in the future if you're unlucky
    52589762-cX0dV.jpg
My machine actually had some problems on delivery. The HDMI output was constantly resetting, and there were flashing pixels. After disassembling, cleaning the thermal paste off and reapplying, removing the SSD, Wifi card etc and reassembling it seems to be okay. I suspect a grounding problem somewhere; but I'm not entirely sure.
