1 litre of a cask strength (60%) very well regarded whisky.

Sold by a third party but fulfilled by Amazon.

£3 cheaper to buy the 1 litre bottle than the 70 CL, so essentially half a standard sized bottle of whisky free

Great way to fall off the dry January band wagon

30cl more does not equate to "essentially half a bottle free"

No, but the other £3 you save works out just over 4cl of whisky (based on the cost of the 70cl bottle), add that to the 30cl and that is essentially half a bottle free.

Thanks for your wonderfully helpful input though, just maybe engage the brain a little more before typing your insightful comments next time

I think Ben was referring to half of the 70cl bottle for free, NOT half of the 1l bottle. Half of the 70cl bottle is only 35cl.

5cl more would be half a bottle free, and it's £3 cheaper, so it's pretty accurate.

Exactly - just over 34%, not half.

Looks like you need to follow your own advice.

For £49.50 you would get 1.06L of whisky at this price, i.e. an additional 360ml, which is a little over 50% 'free' whisky.

Not sure where your 34% comes from. [Edit - just realised this is using the 1L bottle as 'base' for free whisky which is incorrect].

    Anyway, great deal and purchased.

Is this page to give heat for a good deal or the Jeremy Kyle show. I got to the bottom of the comments and forgot what the deal was! Heat given anyway.

This is a fairly standard price, it's nearly always £40 - £45 when I've looked in the past from Amazon sellers.

It's fairly decent stuff, kept me going for a good 6 weeks or so.

Sorry but not equally correct. Even if you worked out the correct percentage of a litre this is rarely used in percentage change calculations or in percent extra advertising. You would've been better off apologising instead of appearing like a petulant child.

I work out things per litre or kilo. The 1L bottle is 35% cheaper per litre than the 70cl bottle. Fact. Not opinion.

i believe the statement you were attempting to correct was however quite clear in referencing the size of bottle as "standard" - I think every other reader interprets a standard bottle as 70cl, hence - essentially half a standard sized bottle of whisky free - is a more accurate statement.

Your continued refusal to admit egg on your face, either that you misread a post, or got your calculation wrong is churlish and reminds me of my 16 year old son - never accepts he is wrong....

The aforementioned product is the 1L bottle and therefore I used that as the basis. It doesn't mean what I wrote was incorrect. I don't need to admit I am wrong, because I am not wrong.

You rest no case. The OP amended the description to include a "standard bottle", as per post #11, after my initial comment.

Well after all this I decided to buy the Oban for £35 anyway.

I never want to see half a bottle of free whisky again!!

Bought one of these recently as it's a lot cheaper than the 700ml per litre. It's a real sherry bomb of a whisky, deffo helps with a splash of water to bring out more of the flavours and take a little of the alcohol content out, despite being such a high % it tastes very smooth considering. Great buy!

it's £43.38 now. can somebody work out how much extra that is over the 70cl bottle please.
