This is a good quality tap, especially for the price. I bought one a while ago and recently fitted it to my mother's sink; she was delighted.

The only thing to watch is that there is adequate clearance through the sink and worktop for the hose to run freely when it is pulled in and out. And it is usually best to reinforce a stainless steel sinktop around the tap hole to minimise distortion as the tap is moved (or rocked) - a piece of 6mm plywood with a hole matching the tap hole can be glued underneath the sink and clamped up tight with the tap.

The tap is ideal for a combi boiler as both hot and cold will be at mains pressure. If used on a tank-fed hot supply, there may not be enough pressure for a good hot flow, e.g. if cold water cistern is only a few feet above the sink level (as in a flat) rather than higher up in a loft.

(i suppose this item should be rated both hot and cold at the same time!)

That's a bizarre looking picture, where's the tap? I shall have to check it out.

Ahh yes, you can't tell what it is from that pic! Have a look at this, it is a similar style but not exactly the same.

Perhaps that's why this isn't getting more heat, people think it's a shower head! :giggle:

The pull-out hose makes it really useful for getting into those nooks and crannies.

Can I use this in a bathroom sink too?

    Thanks

Only if you have a BIG sink. It's about 23 cm ( 9 inches) front to back.

Looks a bit naff with white plastic hose, heat added for value though.

The hose is silvery grey, almost the same colour as the chrome tap (but not as shiny!).

I bought this same tap about 3 years ago from Lidl, fantastic quality at a unbeatable price. My local kitchen and bathroom centre wanted £78 for the same thing.

Be careful with this, the connection thread between the Flexible Hose and Tap is plastic and I managed to break mine within a few months!

But otherwise a good spray hose ;o)

I've had one of these installed in the kitchen for 5 years. I know this is a very sad thing to say but its the best tap i've ever had. The flexible hose makes it idea for filling buckets or jugs etc, even when the sink is full. Easy to fit, easy to use and very reliable.

We got one of these for our kitchen sink around 3 years ago. Great quality tap and the hose pull out is so handy for filling buckets or even hair washing. Great deal!

I so want one of these.
Not as sexy as the ikea one i've got my eye on but thats too expensive for me at £149.
Think i could justify the lidl price.
    GREAT POST THANKS!!

I bought this tap from Lidl about 4 years ago, just recently the head snapped were it screws into the hose, phoned the number in the back of the instructions (London) and they sent me a new head out free of charge from Italy, didn't even have to prove were i bought it from, by the way it has an Anti scald feature on the Hot water side which you can adjust by taking the top off and adjusting a washer.(all in the instructions)

Plenty of these in Letchworth. Haven't fitted it yet, but it looks and feels very good quality.

Assuming these are as easy to fit as the instructions claim, this is scorching hot. There's nothing like this even remotely close to this price range.

I have one but since fitting the hot water pressure is useless nowhere near the strength of my old tap, cold comes thru fine but i need to press the shower button for any hot water pressure and even then its pretty weak.

Sounds like your water pressure is too low for this tap. It does warn about that:

Not suitable for low pressure water systems or over-sink water heaters

We got one of these last time they were in stock.
Good tap like however ours broke (and it wasnt down to to much usage coz she never does as shes suppose to lol)

Well it's a bit more of a challenge round ours. The old connections are smaller than the ones these come with, so it looks like I'll need a couple of new parts.

Instructions are ridiculous, incidentally. A third of a page on how to fit the thing, and then about 10 pages of how to turn it on and off again.

That's nice to know oberlisc. You never know what value the warranty is until you try to make a claim. Thanks for the info.

Thanks OP. Got one Newbury today as my kitchen tap is on the way out, only a couple left. Voted hot.

Pull out head is plastic which is a bit of a concern, but hey it's £18.99!! The main part of the tap is much better quality and looks built to last.

Only problem was that I went into Lidl to buy the tap then spent another £30.00 on other bits and bobs!
  29. kiddakidda's avatar
    For info,

I was in Focus DIY earlier today and they were selling a very similar item for £89.99. The quality was near enough the same with the exception of a different spray button and hose.

I'm more than happy with mine so far.

Bought One! We had a £70 mixer tap installed with a new sink three years ago and it is broken. Around the same time, we installed a £15 small mixert tap from Lidl in the bathroom and it is as good as the day it came from the shop. Heat added - good spot!!
