this site is meant to save people money and time... this deal (Post if you like) serves that function. Its a newly announced popular product, its fine to let the odd good use of voucher deal slip in.

I think he was calling you a Muppet. Probably because of the amount of muppetry in your original post, where you suggested this item is "pointless" if you have an Xbox etc... (which is quite clearly ludicrous). Therefore I concur that you are indeed a Muppet.
To add - All the people leaving negative comments on this thread about me stealing it and making it my own, lets just clarify that i found the £5 off voucher but posted this one first. I was then beaten to posting the actual voucher by stfagos by about 10 seconds but im not posting negative comments in his thread.

£5 will be automatically deducted from a £30 spend making it the cheapest delivered at the moment.

I purchased this because of this deal. i dont have time to go thru vouchers sections etc... and i am sure many will agree with me. Also the HEAT this deal is getting shows its been helpful
I really wish people would stop bumming the hell out of Plex. Unless I missed something I would need to have a PC somewhere running 24/7 with Plex and all of my media on. What about people who don't have other PC's? What about people who do have a PC and don't want to leave it switched on 24/7 (environment and money cost) or switch it on every time they want to watch a movie.
With the Chromecast, and the media that I carry about on my phone, I can watch an episode of GoT or Walking Dead without all the hassle and if I don't watch it all I can continue watching it on my phone in bed or on the train the next day.
Perhaps I have missed something so please update me if I have.
Op found the voucher deal before anyone else and paired it with this as it's just been released in the UK. Why people are getting butt hurt over it is beyond me, if you are not interested in the deal just move on.
That's the problem with social media

They're only the official apps, there are loads of third party ones on the store that will let you share just about anything.

The 'deal' is the £5 off a £30 spend at Amazon which has already been posted in Vouchers.
It doesn't take a genius to see that anything £30 or over on Amazon is going to be £5 cheaper.
How many 'get this and that for £5 off at Amazon' deals are we going to be bombarded with?
This is Spam ...
And if you have none of those things then its not pointless? Im sorry i must have missed your point?
I have an Xbox 360, but I dont want to carry it up the stairs and wire it back in if i want to watch The walking dead on Netflix!!! Muppet
Anyway, Thank for posting this OP, I had the voucher but wasn't sure what to spend it on but now I know!
Top tip: Buy shares in kleenex and baby lotion asap.
Completely agree. I don't want my laptop to be on 24/7. Nor do I want to go out and buy a 'low power' server (what a suggestion!) to put somewhere in my house (where it's not wanted) on the off chance I might use it a couple of times a week for a movie or two. Or an Android tablet. Or any of the other costly suggestions made by individuals who seem to hell-bent on pushing Plex.
It's inconvenient and unnecessary complex to the average consumer at best. Personally, as someone with relatively decent technical knowledge, Plex offers zero merits to me versus other solutions available. The basic requirement of having a dedicated server (or whatever device somebody recommends to buy additionally at further cost) on 24/7 with all the data you want to access contained within, would be an absolute nuisance to me.
I don't know about others, but I try and minimise crap on around the house, and from a data point of view, minimise the amount of locations where I store it. I see Plex as a 'middle-man' which will eventually become redundant, based on current technological developments.
Something that will be used 3 times then thrown in a cupboard drawer.
Cast Store for Chromecast
play.google.com/sto…gcs
This app will find all compatible apps for chromecast
"Description
Are you using Chromecast by Google or CheapCast on another device?
Google Play is at this moment a mess and it's hard to find Chromecast-Apps.
You'll find with this app an overview about all Google Cast compatible Apps in the Google Play Store.
Time by time I'm going to add more apps und some informations about them.
Features:
- sort apps by adding time, name and rating
- add apps to a favorite list
- read short descriptions about the apps
- see which app is already installed on your device
- be up-to-date with the news-feed
- see how many apps have every categorie
- see ratingbar for every app"
Also - guessing if im watching somethign streamed on my laptop (eg big bang theory) i cant stream it to chromecast to watch on normal TV?
you really dont need one , if you understand what it does and how...
simple connection from laptop to tv with hdmi cable will do the same job.
Exactly. It just seems to have peed over someone else's deal pointing out the £30 chromecast.
The deal is a voucher.
Yes - you'd need something like plex media server, or there are some other options I'm not really aware of.(but I can thoroughly recommend Plex!)
You can indeed do that as long as you're streaming using the chrome browser and you install the Google Cast extension. (see link)

Yes i can agree that the Chromecast deal was already posted although I posted this before the £5 voucher deal.
Think of it as spam as you want... All i was doing was trying to inform people of the best deal at the moment for the Chromecast
Yes.
I have just realised thanks to a couple of posters that this is just a £5 off £30 spend at Amazon, nothing to do with a chromecast!!!
I'm not sure on the complete file support, but Chrome browser will open local files and therefore you can "cast" them.
I posted this first, then went on to post the £5 off voucher for everyone to see however i was just beaten by it to Stfagos who has infact mentioned me in his post. Perhaps i should have done it the otherway but nevertheless they are both deals to be fair.
