    Regarding signal, I had a Smarty sim (Three) in a Nothing Phone 2 which was amazing, I had signal everywhere, never had an issue. (coming from EE never noticed a difference in signal) but recently changed my phone to a Pixel 8 Pro in which I'm using the same Smarty sim. Signal is now abysmal and drops out in areas I never used to have issues. Actual 4G/5G speeds are so much slower too.

    Looking on Reddit it looks like the Snapdragon chipset in the Nothing phone 2 has a much better modem than the Tensor/exynos Samsung chips in the Pixels.

    I thought about going back to a Nothing Phone 2 but the Camera and Screen on the Pixel 8 Pro is just so much better!

    It's a shame manufacturers haven't caught on yet to marketing their over-the-air (OTA) antenna test performance results. It can mean a snazzy looking phone (the original razr was appallingly bad in terms of RF design) is a nightmare to live with if calls always drop.

    Network entry in the US via PTCB / CTIA has accepted limits (if the network operator wishes to implement) that could / should become household recognisable like washing machine energy ratings; it would solve what you mentioned entirely. The two figures are TRP and TIS, radiated power and isotropic (spherical) sensitivity.

    Poor antenna design and too much metallic content aren't featured anywhere in YouTubers review videos and yet arguably makes a handset usable or trash. Unfortunately it'd cost a couple of grand to run a single handset through an OTA lab but if there were a 3rd party willing to do it, it'd help the public more than almost anything else. We blame the network all too much for poor performance! (edited)

    Network coverage is so dependent on where you live. I'm with ID/3 and find it superb - I had far more problems previously with O2.

    I would have been tempted with this deal if I hadn't signed up for the S24 Ultra deal a couple of weeks ago (think it worked out around £919 with 100gb ID data).

    SMARTY were so bad when I used them for a while and they use the 3 network. Wish some good contract deals would come in on EE but it never seems to happen... Probably because they know they are the best network

    I bit at the last ID P8Pro deal but in the process of returning now - the network is shocking at home/work despite being advertised as 4/5G.

    Looked around for a device only can't help but think it's still cheaper to have this contract and just use a different SIM for calling unless I'm missing something

    Mines network is the same, I work from home so was constantly connected to WiFi, until I was out one day and realised my phone is useless and the return period is over

    I found deal here for 3 pounds per month SIM only for idmobile 2 year 40gb SIM and bought open brand new phone honor magic 6pro for 620. This way for around 700 I have the whole set (yes SIM deal is annoying as it's the claim the cheque type) but I saw those pixels too quite cheap when they're damaged box etc.
    In my area Vodafone used to be so much better than it is now so idmobile is good enough for me.
    But 800 pounds with contract and watch it's amazing.

    I took am after the Honor Magic 6 Pro. Apart from the £250 off the £1,100 RRP offer they've had since day 1 I've not seen anything. And I don't want Id mobile (Three) either.

    Very good deal but i cant get on with pixels. Got my pixel 7 pro on a similar deal when it launched.
    The pixel watch standout feature of being able to use it out and about for calls and most functions while the phone is left at home is disabled outside of the USA. Of course this isn't mentioned anywhere and it took me a few months to work out why it was impossible to enable the e sim. This is possibly still a problem. I part exed the watch for a couple of p30 pros and a huawei watch that is much more useful and the battery lasts for weeks not hours.
    Waiting for pixel contract to expire so i can get a magic 6 pro.
