On sale once per year, decided to go for it on this orbit of the sun.

Purchased on SA store for £2.91 after some Gold points.

How easy is it to buy from the SA eshop ?

More frustrating than dark souls. Beware.

I didn't find this to be the case, perhaps because I grew up on 2d platformers

Yep harder than dark souls imo. Can't beat soul king

That's only 3rd Boss of game to (edited)

Nice find OP. Game rarely goes on sale on the eshop. Got it from SA eshop really cheap

Good luck with the pantheon, I'm on P5 and I can't beat it. I can do all the bosses separately but the nerves at the end after you've been going straight for 40 minutes, then Pure Vessel or Absolute Radiance breaks you.

Absolute must-buy even at full price

Same. I’d happily pay £50 in hindsight.  Such a packed and clever game.  I couldn’t stop until I completed it. I think I put in 40-50 hours which is rare for me in the last few years

This is a ridiculous amount of game for the money. An absolute masterpiece.

(I wonder if I'll ever beat P4 / P5. I've done everything else - Path of Pain, all the Colosseum fights).

Been waiting for this since completing metroid dread. Is this game a similar difficult?

I really wanted to but I couldn't get into this, might have to try again.

I had played it off the back of Celeste so maybe I was a bit platformer burnt out

I've played it for an hour so far and I'm a bit disappointed I've not connected much with it yet..

In terms of game difficulty, I will say this:

It's a challenging game, yes. It does have a fairly decent learning curve though so you should be able to reach Dirtmouth and the crossroads without too much swearing.
The challenging side is usually down to boss battles, but combat is tight and it's never unfair. Like Dark Souls, a lot of this is getting used to the boss's moves and finding ways to counterattack rather than button mashing.
There is also some challenging platforming but this is generally late game (e.g. White Palace).

One tip for the Switch: some boss battles like Nightmare King Grimm took me ages, but I was playing in docked mode and there was added latency as a result on my Samsung TV. Go handheld and the difference is night and day. I played on the PC afterwards and found it significantly easier.
