Before you buy, please let me explain. These lights are odd

they do not quite work how you would expect them to

when they detect motion, the light comes on but then after 20 odd seconds, you would expect it to turn off, but it doesn’t, it just dims.

So the light stays on but stays on dim, until it detects motion again, then it goes bright.

The light stays on dim automatically when it starts to get dark, and then as you say when detecting motion comes on brighter for set amount of time.

Had one for 3 years not in direct sunlight and still going strong

Used to have a bigger more powerful version which had more settings options Inc turn the dim light off

Interested in this? How well would it do at lighting up a fairly big back garden? Would I need a more powerful version?

Also, I often wondered with these do these get all their power via the solar panel? or do they use a mains connection or battery for back up? I couldn't see how they would stay working very long in winter? Unless the light output is pretty weak?

Fairly big is pretty vague, but reviews normally have feedback and pictures which would give you a decent idea.

It'll have an internal battery that gets charged during the day and powers it at night. And yes, typically they're not super bright generally, but enough to see what you're doing and not walk into things and attract attention if it goes off. (edited)

Got this model from Amazon 5th Jan 2020 and still going strong! Paid 24.32 back then. Have it round the side near the bins and consistently comes on when I go round there at night. Would recommend. (edited)

Would you really want a security light to stay on all night?

Surely, you only want it to come on when it detects someone right?

Why does it matter? I think having some ambient light may be helpful to see before it triggers, but can't think of much downside to it being on low, other than it will drain the battery quicker.

These are great lights and the quality is obvious the moment you open the box. I have two of them. This is the best price I have seen them at. Good spot OP!
