Waste of money. Buy some proper ones with a PIR sensor (light only turns on when there is movement) and proper 18650 li-ion batteries for £5 - £8.

Bades

For £2.84 I would not expect it be anything other than plastic

SJHan

If these are anything like the ones that were on offer in Homebase not long ago (they look similar) then they are cheap plastic tat.

I ordered this and I was just wondering if anyone has has theirs delivered yet?

imran09

I’ve tried running it with AA batteries as well, works fine, even better than solar.

kerridge0

Would a high powered torch be enough to get this going if the sun isn't sufficient?

hethekid

I have this and it is horrible , plastic cheap and very difficult to get started !

Grumpy1

Picked one up for my Grandson at Home Bargains the other day for £2.49 looked good value but will have to see what he makes of it?

Okay. Thank you!

nope... same emission as a tiny LED

samirahman3

Are these bright enough? @EatAllThe_Things

EatAllThe_Things

my own personal experience: these are rubbish. Had 4 for a year now, only 1 still works. Also they are easily disassembled, e.g. by being knocked over by cats/foxes

jordan210

Last year they did 25% off so made them 75p. amazon value and still going strong

80w what, where?

spannerzone

You did well there

ricardasgudkovas

But all these solar panels somehow in UK is cheaper than anywhere else:] for 80w foldable i paid only 110

spannerzone

It'll be incredibly slow to charge though, that shows current at 0.08amp .....so solar will take a few weeks to charge it up I reckon. Might be useful in the warmer countries but most of these solar battery packs aren't realistically much use, many don't even have real panels on them :D

Return

These aren't great at charging - in the winter, they will charge up so the lights are on from anywhere between 1-4 hours depending on the cloudiness that day. Would like to swap out the solar charger for a battery box that comes on at dusk if anyone finds one...

No need to expose your political and economic ignorance on a deals site - best to keep it for your next Momentum meeting. £868 for a gaming laptop (your last post ) doesn't sound like someone suffering from 'austerity'!

Towelie

Excellent find - only just seen this! (lol) (highfive) Pretty mad that this is only slightly hotter than the other deal though and shows how influential some posters are/how poor the site is becoming.

Mine got cancelled this morning. Anyone else?

dreamsofubuntu

I bought something simmilar last year and they are brilliant little lights (still going now) however do bear in mind that as you get closer to christmas there is less daylight and also the light intensity decreases so they don't actually last very long... they are much better for summer evening lights than Christmas ones...

RAMlover

These are usually in the region of £6-£7 each which is what I paid for mine. Great item, but as above only really work in the summer

philreid1

I bought these in July and have to say I was very impressed as they last most of the night. Unfortunately winter time is completely different. If they come on at all you are lucky if you get a couple of hours out of them. I get an hour at the most (and I've repositioned the solar panel numerous times). If you want a Christmassy effect these will disappoint. Heat for summer use, Siberian for winter!

TabbyBoy

Thanks, ordered for Xmas and remember to redeem the £5 voucher. Warmth added (which is quite rare for me).

Same happened with my solar lights so decided to take the plunge and get mains powered lighting in the back garden, hesitant to use solar in the front but may as well at this price as wiring into the front would be a lot harden and more expensive.

Is the solar security light for sale in Home Bargains as well? Couldn't see anything today when I went in.

donerkebab

Thanks for that - ;) barely enough light to see his hand directly below the light - I will go for the security light instead.

Andy1122

Yeah it's 80 lumen so not designed for that task, like I've said above there's an actual solar security light available for that task.

johnson293

I got one exactly the same, but branded by Rolson from TK Maxx for £7.99. We have it over the rear door from the kitchen to the deck ,and the light emitted is not great to be honest, and it took a full day of charge before it would work with the PIR. If anyone is thinking of using this as a PIR security light, then don't bother. Its just the same as the typical LED solar fence lights.

I've bought several types of these solar lights...they all fail within a year, new rechargeable batteries don't help. Very disappointing indeed! Don't waste your money.

SirBananaman

i agree with this and its what i will be doing this year ;)

Stu_22

Think the best thing is to take the in during winter as they don't get much of a charge during the day and the constant rain eventually gets in

Her_Indoors

I have bought numerous packs (and individual ones) over the past few years - all worked well to start with, but none have lasted more than a year or 2. Very disappointing given the 'green' overtones - SOLAR powered, yet they seemed deliberately designed to be a throw-away item. I spend about £10 - £20 a year just to replace the ones no longer working. Can anyone recommend something which actually lasts? thanks
