I'll bite when it's £14.99 or less but since Nintendo hasn't added more content to the game there's little reason to get it.

Yeah I had been looking at this on Amazon but the reviews put me off. I love tennis games though so I'm still tempted

It's certainly no Mario Tennis 64, but its not bad!

The only bad Mario Tennis game that exists is the Virtual Boy one and that's because.. Virtual Boy!

As someone who owns this, I don't think I could recommend it yet at this price. The amiibo function should have been scanning a plethora of figures and playing as them in increasingly bigger tournaments and building up a ranking... Can't fault the gameplay (okay I can, your amiibo partner often hits the ball right at you - if they were going to do this they should have implemented a duck manouver, which might have been fun), but I've played it 3 times max.

I'd hold out for it to drop a little lower. genuinely can't believe how little content there is in this game - think Splatoon on launch day

Just tried playing it on the emulator and the tennis ball keeps going through the racket. Plus, this Mario Tennis isn't really much fun. :-/

Worth knowing, thanks man. I miss the GameCube days where game 'collecting' wasn't a thing and you'd pick up loads of stuff like this for about a tenner. Might bite at 15, def bite if it ever drops to a tenner

the game is a bit short on content, and the gimmick modes are very swallow and you would play the simple mode in less than 24hs.

that being said if you like tennis games the gameplay is quite solid, online is not very populated but you can spend an afternoon playing with people. at this price being a mario game is a stealt

Mario Tennis on 3DS is probably better, it has a few different game modes and is not perfect but quite playable and fun. Often available for £10-12ish NEW too. Admittedly have not played Wii U game) but like you have read bad reviews and about it being rushed out, and references and comparisons to ET Atari 2600 on here can never be good (off topic link: bbc.co.uk/new…458 )

I am still finding it hard to buy this game for my kid at this price! Think I will wait for a £15 deal like gamer-u.

Is a £15 price point likely? Knew the ps4 market like the back of my hand but all I know about Nintendo is that the first party games tend to stay pricey

good price, very minimalistic game though, basically no point booting on your own, like Mario party i suppose. I'd pick it up for 20 though if you like your marios

Better off buying Mario Power Tennis (Wii or GameCube) which is cheaper, has more content and so its replay value will last for ages. I've seen the gameplay and in that regard it looks fine but the animation is exactly the same for every single one of them which honestly gets tiresome as there's no variety.

Well thats the question I guess none of us know the answer to. I'd expect its unlikely to fall to £15 being Mario even if its been critically doomed. Maybe something inbetween or just a flash deal then, maybe I should buy it at this price myself, still not rushing in but thinking about it.

EDIT: I am assuming you bought a Wii U then nic ? If so you won't regret it, great machine whatever the nutters say on here.

Yeah went ahead and bought the Amazon deal - totally in love with it. Splatoon is the best thing I have played in a long while (rubbish at it mind!). My ps4 is great but this is just much more fun and seems a better fit for me at this moment in my gaming life.

You will also be pleased to know that I had to cancel my Pokemon 2ds preorder to help with funds. I still have my black n blue one though!

My main problem with the game is the online bits being too spartan, not even give the chance of the rematch with another player, or play with friends is a silly one.

regarding the content, i think is a shame, that GC mario have more modes, and giimmicks and so on, however i mainly play with friends or online when alone, so IN MY PARTICULAR CASE, is like complaining of single player campain in COD when i only play online.

Im quite happy with the game, just feels like a missed opportunity to be a greater game.

At one point I was expecting Nintendo to pull a Splatoon on MTUS but Ninty never did. Second worst Mario Tennis game to date.
