The Flying Circus is where Monty Python started - 4 series of TV shows aired between 1969 and 1974 in the UK. Dubbed 'The Fathers of Modern British Comedy', it was seen as the start of a new generation of TV comedy when it hit the mainstream, and was certainly seen as controversial in its day. Topical issues were included but silliness was the main theme, and seeing everyday stuff at a tangent was the order of the day. The guys classical education also is reflected in some of the more esoteric pieces. Now with a huge cult following, the Flying Circus appeals to both young and not-so-young.

Alternatively, There's the Almost Everything boxset for £13.50, which includes: Monty Python's Meaning of Life, Monty Python's Life of Brian, and Monty Python and the Holy Grail, as well as 'And Now for Something Completely Different, along with The Flying Circus.

(nudge, nudge, wink, wink)
All of the studio footage was shot on SD video with the exteriors shot on 16mm film. It is unlikely to appear on Blu-ray.

"People forgive you the things that don't work," he said. "A lot of Python was crap, it really was. We put stuff in there that was not really that good, but fortunately there were a couple of gleaming things that everyone remembers while they've forgotten the dross."
I love the Python team at their best. Their films are epic and if you want the best sketches I recommend the ones put together into the 1971 release "And Now for Something Completely Different".
But don't try revisting the old shows again, you will be disappointed.
Thanks

I just bought using Paypal and have an order confirmation from Zoom.
This record is scratched.
Ahh, just a case of 'lucky me' then, although i'm not getting far trying to get a response from Zoom.
Hyperbole and a half.
Even the not so good sketches are way better than anything now. And that's not hyperbole - its fact.
The cheese shop is one of the famous ones, and let's not forget the 'argument' sketch
Not to be pedantic but I think it was just 'video' back then.
