I'm thinking of getting two of these for my parents. Mum is using an iPhone 3GS and dad is using an iPhone 4. Spec wise, how would this phone compare?
Much better than 3gs and better than the iphone 4 in most areas except camera.

Thanks!

have you guys had any problem cutting down a full size sim and fitting it in the MG?

Wife's phone arrives tomorrow and she wont be a happy hector if I knacker up her sim! Got one of those sim cutters btw

Which telco are you with? It would be better to get it swapped over to a proper micro sim. I never cut it myself before but my experience with those sim cutters isn't great as I previously took my sim to a three store to have it cut and it didn't work.
My gf is with vodafone and it was easy enough to walk into a store to get a new micro sim and the number was ported over by the time we got home.

Sorry just seen your post and thanks for the reply, she's with Virgin, just picked up the phone on my way home from work, still deliberating whether to cut it down or not...

Decided against cutting the Virgin Sim down as its the older style where the metal contact area is considerably larger than the latest ones. Therefore no room for error.

So called Virgin and they're sending us replacement micro sim foc (should be here tomorrow) amazing service!

Especially when you consider TMobile wanted to charge me £15.00 for a replacement last year

I have cut those down with no bother. Apparently, the Micro sims only really need the central part of the metalled area on older sims to function. Just check online for a guide that uses the old type sim because you will have to cut into the metalled section if you can't wait.

Odd what you said about TMobile. It has never charged me for a replacement sim in all the times I was with it.

For anyone wondering the battery life is amazing. I'm 1 day 9 hours in on the battery and am at 65%! Brightness on auto.

Quick question, i already have a Tesco Sim i planned on using with this new phone (Is a detachable Micro sim), but the Moto G i got from tesco already had a Tesco Sim in it. How can i check the phone number of this new Sim card on the Moto G?

Think we may as well wait now for the replacement. Many thanks for the info though, interesting.

Hi *****

Unfortunately, cashback is not paid on purchases made through Tesco Direct as Tesco Direct do not pay cashback
This is stated in the terms and conditions on Tesco Phone Shop's Quidco page:
PAYG Sales and Accessories are from Tesco Direct.
This means that, on this occasion, your purchase is not eligible for any cashback.
I am sorry for any disappointment that this may cause

Kind regards

Loads on ebay but be careful you might end up with a dodgy / faulty one (cheap for a reason)

Most Supermarkets now sell them (£7.00 +)

I'd go for something like this

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/GENUINE-SAMSUNG-GALAXY-S4-I9500-I9505-Note-2-S3-Mini-MAINS-CHARGER-DATA-CABLE-/231128176146?

or this

CPC have various USB and micro USB PSUs don't know what the quality is like, but at least they should be electrically safe.

eg http://cpc.farnell.com/pro-power/mwusb3uk-white/usb-power-supply-5v-2-1a-white/dp/PW03050?crosssellid=PW03050&crosssell=true&in_merch=true& is a 2.1 Amp one for under £5.

And here's a 1 Amp micro usb one http://cpc.farnell.com/jsp/displayProduct.jsp?sku=PW0306007&CMP=KNC-CPC-ebooks

And one by STONTRONICS http://cpc.farnell.com/stontronics/dsc-5cu-05/usb-power-supply-5v-1a-international/dp/PW03043

A few more all made by powerpax ( I've found powerpax's 12v supplies to be good quality - I mostly use Powerpax and Stontronic supplies for my 2 cctv systems)

2.1 amp http://cpc.farnell.com/powerpax/usb2-1uk/usb-power-supply-5v-2-1a-uk/dp/PW03121

2.1 amp international sockets http://cpc.farnell.com/powerpax/usb2-1int/usb-power-supply-5v-2-1a-intl/dp/PW03120

3.1 amp with 3 usb sockets http://cpc.farnell.com/powerpax/usb31-3/usb-power-supply-triple-3-1a/dp/PW03081 - this will require a fig 8 cable.

I have just carefully checked the Tesco Quidco page including the T & Cs and can find nothing that says cashback is not paid on purchases from Tesco Direct. In fact what it actually says is:

'Any sales made through Tesco Direct will initially track at a lower amount and become updated by the time your purchase has been confirmed.'

This has been copied and pasted from theTesco/Quidco page under Terms & Conditions !

That's a bit strange...
If 3g and wifi are disabled it shouldn't use any data.
#353
I checked from 2 jan till today and it used more than 200 times .13 .15 .18k..The point is if data is off how come these thimgs are happening.. ill use du meter to check whats happening..

That is strange, only thing I can think of is maybe an always on app like whatsapp or if your email is sent to sync etc

So when you have data and Wi-Fi off it attempts to use a packet data connection... Well that's what happens on a Nokia handset I've got... :|
#355
Check the apps you've got running in 'manage apps' and disable them to see if that makes any difference?
