About this deal

Bought a tin of chopped tomatoes at Lidl today cheap make 39p. Went in to Farm foods and found 6 Napolina ones for 1.99 working out around 33p each for a branded product.
Looks like it's Nationwide.

Awesome. I have a tomato soup recipe I've been itching to try for ages but it needs a good quality can of toms.

Can you confirm if there napolina as only marks and sparks or napolina will do in taste test.

Please note the expiration dates on these are August 24. Was about to buy a whole load on the weekend and decided to check the date.

When the next zombie apocalypse strikes, I bet you won't be fussing about the expiry date. You'll be saying "it's in a can, who cares?" 🧟‍♂️🥫🥫🧟‍♂️

Remember when tinned tomatoes were 2p a tin in Netto. The good old days.

Pre-Brex..it food was a lot cheaper. Bit of a coincidence prices went through the roof recently...

These are much nicer than supermarket toms and worth using in simple pasta sauces (e.g. a tomato and basil sauce). Probably won't notice the difference if using it in something like a chilli though.

Whole tinned tomatoes are better than chopped according to world famous chefs
    john_n3MU's avatar
not down to chefs. Whole Toms, in a can, are rated Class A.....whereas chopped ones include the lower rated ones which are all allowed in canning country..........

Short date but good for 12-18 month's after bbe. Can even be longer if kept in cool condition though might be some deteriorating of flavour.
