XL worth it? Or the regular size big enough?

The Mrs wasn't impressed with the regular, so I whipped out the XL

    Old?
It's a new model of a well-supported platform - the slim Vita is over 2 years old (the OLED is over 4 years old) and the platform is in decline.

And if I am correct the graphics capability is nearly or as good as one of these. I remember that some of the games just look like 8 pixels on a screen. I mean don't buy it.

The original 3DS came out in 2011. This is slightly updated model of that console. Have you tried playing bravely default or monster hunter etc on your phone? I mean, don't comment if you don't know what you are talking about.

You don't buy a 3DS for the hardware, you buy it for the library of quality exclusives it has.

If you can get over the specs are everything mindset you will have a fantastic mobile gaming experience on this, i personally think it's worth owning one alone for the Pokemon games.

you don't buy Nintendo for specs, you buy Nintendo for Nintendo games! if you have no interest in Nintendo that's fine, but I'm not sure why you'd click on a Nintendo deal just to downplay Nintendo products. now you're playing with power

Can any kind soul direct me to the best place for this, as I'm pretty clueless about how much they should cost. Cheers.

Go for the official Nintendo 3ds charger. Don't pay more than £6.99, click and collect at Argos if you have one close, alternatively, Curry's is the same price for click and collect. Or order from Game online, same price and they deliver - in store price is more expensive though

Its not a brand new system completely is it though? Its just a small upgrade from the original 3ds/xl. It is overpriced for what it is regardless of how well or not the slim vita did. I reckon it will be worth waiting for more news on the release of the Nintendo NX - then prices for 3ds's will drop.

Get the XL, the screen size is a massive difference. I also found the regular 3ds to be uncomfortable to hold for extended periods of time.

You might be right about waiting for the NX but I still wouldn't buy a Vita over this today, unless you're buying it for homebrew
I have a couple of Vitas and a PSTV - the Vita was a good buy when I got it 3½ years ago as I've had loads of cheap gaming through PS Plus (despite the cost of the 64GB memory card) but there'll be decent games coming out for the 3DS long after Sony disown the Vita, despite the platform being a year older.

You can't really compare the two systems. Very different games available for both with their own pros and cons.

I played SMW on the SNES9x emulator last night and it ran fine after a few tweaks (skip 1 frame, NTSC (60FPS), 444MHz clock frequency).

The 3DS XL is a great console and isn't going anywhere, it's eclipsed the DOA VITA in sales.

I don't think Nintendo seem the type to release millions of special editions of the same console. I mean, that would be milking it right?

It's a good deal but I thought it would of dropped in price more by now? I got my 'new' 3ds XL when it was released last year in March for £142. Still good though, would definitely recommend the console

Nintendo handhelds have never been ground breaking, yet they have been the best sellers every generation due to the games that come out for them.

Hardware wise the Vita is pretty awesome, but about 60% of its library is pretty much just JRPG's.

Yeah I don't plan on getting a Vita lol. I have the 3DS XL, it works just fine, the 3D is okay but half of the time I play with the 3D off...I just prefer a larger screen so I traded the smaller one for the XL like 4 years ago now

Question is - will it be backwards compatible with DS / 3DS games? If it is then your point is relevant otherwise we're comparing apples and oranges. I don't believe I've heard much if anything about the NX other than the leaked image.

Still think this price is a bit steep considering how long it's been around. I bought my "new XL" for a tenner less months ago so if you can hold on for another deal to come up - do.

Appreciate it's likely the best deal around at the moment though

Just looked it up and read that it won't be out until March 2017 and won't be sold at a loss. So 7 more months and will be expensive at launch.

I think this is still a bit overpriced too, but the Vita is a totally different device to the 3DS... a OLED (which doesn't do 3D) screen is all well and good, but what use is it when the games library is awful. The 3DS has one of the best libraries in history, and that includes the entire DS back-catalogue too. I don't understand people who just want the most 'attractive' tech with bland content... do you buy consoles to play games or just stick it on a table so you can look at and admire it.
