    I am tempted but this is a very unattractive looking console, and the bottom is green not white so not easy to cover it with skins.

    ​I don't believe skins are available for the xl version in general. So you're stuck with this.

    ​ Yes you can buy skins online, I think you mean plates which are only for new 3ds, not xl. Best skins (decals) are made by decalgirl, you can also create custom (I have them on my two old 3ds xl consoles). There is plenty of skins on eBay and Etsy.

    Can someone explain the face plate situation with the current 3DS generation.

    This console comes with the AC design/theme, is this a plate/cover over a more neutral design or is this the base cover?

    Also I may have misunderstood from above but am I correct to say that you cannot change the cover/faceplate of the New 3DS XL model?

    The cover plates are not easily changeable like the smaller new 3DS model.
    My daughter has this one and she likes it very much, but personally I don't like the design myself.

    If you click 'check stock instore' it tells you the current instore price (it's showing as £139.99 atm) & availability in your local game.
