sorted byI know there are others who share my experience, of being told conflicting things regarding the free Nokia wireless charger offer.
I was told by 5 EE stores that the free wireless charger offer is for contract phones only.
a fact that, while I knew wasn't true (due to hearing other people's success stories) I couldn't prove.
Until I popped in to the Cheapside EE store near my office in London, I spoke to an incredibly friendly and knowledgeable sales person, who explained to me that the offer was open to all Lumia 820 and 920 handsets that were sold with a 'connection' and didn't specify anywhere contract only.
He said he'd be happy to give me one if he had any stock. - I explained the trouble we are all having getting a single answer out of any one store and he told me about the internal memo that went out explaining the deal.
I asked him if he would print me a copy.
Incredibly, He obliged.
Below is the memo sent to EE stores from head office;
The key paragraph is at the bottom of the page:
"To help you drive sales we will also be giving away a free Nokia Wireless Charging Plate with every connection to one of these handsets.".....
"In order to process the free accessory, just scan the handset and accessory as part of the same transaction. The £39.99 discount will then be automatically applied."
Needless to say, I walked in to another store around the corner, explained the situation, showed my original reciept, and this memo, they took note of my details, then I walked out with my wireless charger.
I hope this helps some of you guys get your free chargers too.

Do you make all of your life decisions based on which company uses fruit as a logo?
Oh How I missed your razor sharp wit and insightful knowledge. Do try to post more.
Its not half the price and why is it better?
Using it with my 12 month Sim only ultd texts & data, and 100 mins

Few things:
- the headphones didn't discount so she price-adjusted manually
- the chargeplate didn't discount either, so she did a search under 'Nokia' and found them. I actually showed the staff this site, as they didn't believe that the chargeplate was for PAYG handsets.
You guys may run into these things as well so be prepared. I can post the receipt if you want.
£409. Absolute bargain, and the phone is lovely (even if many of the apps I use like instagram, spotify, iPlayer and Twicca aren't there).
EDIT: should point out that I'd previously been to four other EE stores, two in Wirral and two in Liverpool One. Neither would do the deal, but I reckon it was because they were mad, mad busy.

Try learning English then come back.
My dad is better than your dad.
Welcome back. It's been too long. Thought you'd been banned. Sooo glad you're still here.
you know I'm sure your pointless trolling does more to convince people to try windows phone than you could imagine. Keep it coming, and those of us who've actually spent some time with the win os will keep laughing at you.
I read yesterday that you have to turn NFC off in settings. That chews the hell out of the battery. Hope that helps
3 shops in my town owned by EE
first one don't sell it on PAYG and suggested carphone warehouse (who don't even stock it)
Second had stock but couldn't do it as pay as you go because Tmobile stock is "awkward"?? And then suggested the Lumia 610
Third suggested carphone warehouse (who don't even stock it)
Went back to shop 1
Can't pre order one, couldn't tell me when due in and also said I can't use a Virgin sim (wrong)
Then gave me the wrong price on contract of £20 upfront and £36 per month (£20 upfront is for business contracts)
Went to Phones4U who only had white but showed me a black 820 and tried to tell me it was a 920
Said it was £359 and "that's why you buy from Phones4U"
Even though I pointed out the box said 820. He then apologised and said try EE!
Nokia are **** if these idiots are supposed to be driving sales for these phones.
I went into town with £410 on me and left an hour later with it.
Exclusivity deals are a mess.
Tell them you've spoken to head office and were told they shouldn't be holding back stock like that and that they want to be informed of any stores that do.
Would truly recommend the phone, I am currently using a Samsung Note as well and the picture quality on the Nokia really does stand out.
After a complete charge overnight I used the phone throughout the day and still have approx 40% remaning the following day. Which was a real shock, especially since changing phones since coming from the Htc One X.
Slick interface, Nearly all Apps that I require are there ( No BBC Apps) Still waiting for the Sky sports football live scores, but there is a Skysport News app as well as the ESPN App.
So Far so good, it is quite heavy, but does have a feel of a Premium phone, which is the feel that I am after ( I actually chose the Htc One X over the S3 for that same reason)
Overall would recommend this, however if moving over from a Desire you might find this phone too big, but the Windows OS is a real winner. If it's not for your liking and still want a good windows phone with a good camera, take a look at the Htc Win8X, but the feel and the Camera of the LUMIA 920 will win most people over.
I've been looking at the Lumia 920 pretty closely; even before it "officially" released. I couldn't justify spending £400+ on a phone when my current phone was still working fine for me; that coupled with the crazy EE prices was a real put off. Anyway, since then, I've had a whole load of issues with my phone and alas, trying to take out a micro sim holder, completely obliterated the sim connectors and transformed my phone into a 4" tablet.
As a Virgin mobile customer, I went into virtually every EE store in Nottingham and followed up on the advise of striker33 (that the 920 would work with Virgin sims). I'm the cautious sort and wanted to see if my Virgin sim worked too, you know how it is - there's nothing quite like seeing something work with your own eyes.
I popped into the Victoria Centre store first and asked whether they sold them on PAYG and if I would get the charging plate and headphones free, the good news was yes. I then mentioned that I'm a Vigin customer and whether it would be possible to try my sim out in a 920. The rep was helpful beyond belief and brought out a white "4G" version - in my head I was thinking "no chance, this isn't gonna work" guess what though - it did!!! It said no network for about 30 seconds but it eventually connected, we rang the '789' customer service number which connected with no issues, we then tried the sale reps phone - great news I thought, I'll take one....unfortunately they only had the black one in stock - which I don't really fancy.
Anyway, I decided to pop into the Clumber Street store and they only had the black one too which was a tad disappointing. whilst I was there though, I thought I'd ask the same question and see if my sim worked in this version too; you know how it is, the first time might have been a fluke (you can never be too cautious). Again, as Striker33 stated previously, it worked perfectly, tested it out with 2 numbers again and no issues.
I then popped into the other stores on Albert street, the first didn't sell it on PAYG and the other had absolutely nothing in stock.
Decided to pop into Phones4u on my way back to Victoria Centre and thought I would ask them the same question. The sales rep I was talking to was rudely interrupted by another rep saying "we don't sell them on PAYG and SIM free" and then "why would it work on Virgin for, its EE"....you've got to love it, great customer service there, wouldn't even let me try it out - made me wonder why they were quiet on a relatively busy Sunday, a month away from Christmas lol.
So yeah, if your a Virgin Mobile customer, my experiences within EE stores has been great, they tried my sim out without trying to sell me a ridiculous contract, they didn't ask any questions and actually knew what they were talking about. I reckon they'd do the same in other big(ish) cities. I work in Sheffield so I'm hoping they're as helpful too and more importantly, have the white one in stock...here's hoping.
Cheers,
Kash

If you think its too heavy then, other than looking extremely foolish and ladylike, you appear to have much more severe issues at hand.
This is in addition to being terrible at trolling.
Nexus 4 8gb is £239
Nexus 4 16gb is £279
Lumia 920 32gb + wireless charger + wsc headphones = £400
so for £120 extra you get 16gb more plus a charger and headphones. Pretty good deal
It does not.
As far as I know, DC-HSDPA hasn't rolled out yet? And I'm fairly certain O2 will be the first to use it, if Apple are to be believed.
You'd either have to get it PAYG like this deal, and take out a sim only contract with orange, buy it EE locked from phones 4 u and go with tmobile/orange/virgin, or if you are due an upgrade, try haggling with them over the phone.
Someone got it from Orange on contract, free phone, ultd texts, 750mb data, cant remember the minutes, free email, for £26 pm. Which isn't bad at all.
as replied to above - get in there and just try it...........
if you have the chance to borrow a phone for a few hours, even better
that way you can see just how speedy and simple the OS is - not to mention great social integration and loads of other simple to use features like great integrated mail and excellent photo uploading etc.
admittedly never been involved with iOS devices, other than having to sort my daughters iPod from time to time. i just don't like apple stuff.
but been heavily into android in my time.
now on WP and have been for nearly two years, starting off on a hacked HTC HD2.
two years on - still LOVE the OS, still feels fresh and great.
go for it.
820 has a smaller screen and isn't HD. It also doesn't have the image stabiliser. BUT it has changeable back covers and a micro SD slot so the memory is expandable.
Hey Alex, go to nokiafreecharger.com/ from tomorrow and register for your free charger.
The first night I had it, it drained the battery by 50% overnight from 2am to 8am while on standby.
2nd night I put flight mode on before bed, and it still drained 36% in a similar amount of time.
My trip to London I had to keep it on charge on the way there and on the way back. The 4 hours walking in between it nearly died on me!
I tried completely killing the battery last night (even though it shouldn't be required), and keeping it on charge for 10 hours or so overnight. Will see how it lasts today.
I did manage to snap a decent pic though beforehand. The image stabilisation is unbeatable, especially as I took this after a few bottles of Mountain Dew and Boost.

Try this software Windows Phone 8 Desktop App
I just cut a Virgin SIM down to size and it works fine so far.
For what it's worth I've tested it indoors in London and it's getting 3.2MB/s on Virgin (DC-HSPA). Not bad for £12pm unlimited data, although I will likely pay Orange for an unlock code in 3 months and may change then depending on how Virgin performs.
Overall coverage has been excellent for me on virgin, better than O2, and the speed has been better a lot of the time. However, the mobile network settings seem to be a bit buggy on the lumia 920. I've been on the 3G setting since I got it, and its had no trouble picking up a HSPA signal (no HSPA+ as I live on the outskirts of the city). However, the last few days its defaulted to 3G speeds instead, and refused to change even in the strongest signal areas.
After further testing it seems as if '4G' has to be selected under the network settings in order for HSPA and HSPA+ connections to occur. I have no idea what changed to force me to do this.

Also, the red and yellow are currently exclusive to Phones4U who refuse to price match. It's only the white and black you can get here (and I've yet to see a white one anywhere).
Finally, CEX are paying £25 cash for these headphones. The bottom has dropped out of them on eBay as you might expect, but they're going for roughly the same amount, if a bit less.
So now finally Nokia brings out a well specced phone that looks simply gorgeous. And what do they do? Sign up ee as the exclusive carrier? Utter madness. Surely they would want to get this phone out to as many people as possible?
The colour situation is also insane. How ridiculous that you can only buy the red and yellow models from phones4u. It seems that Nokia are destroying their own phone.

Update: Forgot to mention, they told me the phone was £380 (including £10 topup) but didn't have it in stock, so I'm on the waiting list and they get stock on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and they will only have it in black.

I've just got back fron Leadenhall market branch in City of London. I bought a black PAYG for £410 with £10 top up. Went through the til no problem with free headphones and charger. Will be trying to cut down my sons virgin sim over the weekend. The only other store in the city I could get through to with them in stock is Kensington where they had 2 black ones but the lady who answered the phone didnt know about the free charger.
Hello mate,
It sounds like you've had a bit of a nightmare. When I popped into the Vic Centre and Clumber street stores, they were spot on, as per my previous post, they even let me try my Virgin sim to see if it worked. Unfortunately at the time, they didn't have any in stock in both black or white but were well aware of the PAYG deal.
For info, I rang all 4 of the Nottingham stores last week to get an update, all of them said they were out of stock apart from one of the ones on Albert Street (Broadmarsh) who said they were getting some black PAYG ones in (this was last week, think it was Wednesday 28th) . I'm a patient soul and waiting for the white one. It might be worth ringing first to save you some grief.
Hope that helps.
Cheers,
Kash

I installed the Mi7Rom 7.8. There is now a newer version with oifficial 7.8 but yea most of the features there, some very good ones too. The rom i used tricks your phone into thinking its a nokia 800 so i get all the nice nokia apps too. Very easy to put on aswell as the omnia7 is easily rooted
Cheers
