It says that you have to purchase handset with £10 airtime plan - and it will be added automatically to your transaction.

Though - I have tried and it doesn't add anything and let you buy it without it

With Nokia 105 4G, keeping in touch with family and friends has never been easier - or more rewarding. Built with 4G VoLTE capabilities, calls are so crisp and clear that those close to you will feel even closer.

With Nokia 105 4G hear and be heard with 4G and HD voice support.

The phone features IPS display technology and is built to last.

The phone comes with 128MB internal memory and 48MB RAM.

Bought this a couple of months back. I didn't add an airtime voucher to the order & picked the phone up with no issues.

Worth mentioning this is the bluetooth version. (edited)

Thanks. Nice back up I can leave in the car just in case I forget/lose my main phone. Anyone know of a cheap PAYG SIM that will last a few months (without monthly top up) ?
    KodaBear's avatar
O2 Classic PAYG is 3p a minute, 2p a text, 1p a megabyte. If you make a call once every 6 months your account, number and credit will remain active indefinitely. SIMs are available to buy new on eBay for £1 or less, but no longer available direct from O2.

Bought this 1.5 years ago for £11.

Nice little dual SIM 4G phone.
It has cable free FM radio.

The battery is not great, though can beat your smart phone by few days. If you live in a low signal area, and have dual SIM & 4G on, that drains the battery quicker (Which is expected).

It comes with a micro USB charger.

Note that, this phone can only do 4G on one SIM, so if you are planning to use one 3 SIM card, the other has to be on 3G.

This version was released less than a year ago (June 2023) and has a 40% higher capacity battery. (edited)

I have bought this a few times before and never had to buy airtime. Phone is unlocked as expected.
    fishmaster's avatar
Aye it can't be locked to any network as no phone is allowed to be locked to a network since December 2021.

£11.50 for a 4G phone that is a throwaway phone. Perhaps on a night out. Leave it in the glovebox in the car so you can call emergency services. For a parent that doesn't care about smartphones but needs a phone.

Things I don't know for UK networks. So until I get the definitive answers I don't want to misinform >

    1. Can you make emergency calls 999 / 112 without a SIM card in the phone?
    2. Can you do the same with a SIM card in the phone that has expired? (edited)

Does anyone know if this have Romanian language on? Might buy one for my grandmother and she doesn’t know English. Thanks.

    It does

During my search, I came across this keypad/feature phone on Amazon India, that offers all the social media apps on 4G.

    amazon.in/Jio…h=1

Worth a look if it can be easily sourced and unlocked for UK use. ABout £25 at current exchange rates with a lot of bells and whistles.
    KodaBear's avatar
That runs the KaiOS Software I mentioned in reply to your earlier comment. You're not likely to get it as low as £25, but there are models available in the UK already without having to worry about things like imports, unlocking and such. Energizer E241S/E242S Is probably the cheapest you'll pick up in this country. But Nokia themselves have a handful of models running the same too if you want to stick with them. Something like the Nokia 6300 Refresh for example.

    Does it do Whatsapp ?
    KodaBear's avatar
Nope this is a very basic model. You want to be looking at the 'smart feature' phones that run KaiOS. Nokia as well as others make a few models with this software. These are the ones that support WhatsApp.

horrible phone, fiddly to use and a poor battery to boot, ideal burner phone
  9. shortchanged's avatar
anyone who has this able to say if it can be used as a hot spot?

I have this phone,.it does not have a WiFi hotspot.

Can anyone confirm that 4G calling (VoLTE) works on Three Mobile with this phone?
    KodaBear's avatar
It will, but considering this phone will only call and text, there’s cheaper networks than Three for just that since data isn’t of concern.

Thanks OP - ordered two for the grandchildren (because they can't connect to the internet :D)

The Argos site won't let you order two at the same time, luckily the two Argos branches nearest me have stock so one phone per branch - sorted. Same account details though *shrugs*.

No requirement to buy a £10 airtime voucher with either phone.

    Willy_Wonka's avatar
Where is Chinawhite & what time is it open to?

This post reminded I bought one of those some time ago, came with empty Vodafone PAYG, didnt have to buy airtime. However I am not sure why I bought the phone...

To avoid any possibke issues with paying for top up, order to pick up from a Sainsbury's Local (or a Sainsbury's without an Argos)... Worked for me and seems to do the trick.

It's a nice little device, the FM Radio works really well (and doesn't need headphones to work), and Bluetooth headphones work well too. Nice loud alarm.
A really good back up option.
  17. numerocuatro's avatar
If you buy in store you have to buy the airtime. Online you don't. I buy these for work and it's been like this for well over 6 months. Decent phone for a tenner but the radio shortcut button is where I would expect the key lock so keep turning the radio on.
    Juned_Ahmed's avatar
Does it work on any network
  18. labyyrinth's avatar
Will this work with the Three network sim it's for my elderly mum who likes these simple phones for ease of use

Bought this deal last year the lad at Heaton park Sainsbury's near me got assy saying u gotta buy top up I said no you don't so I ordered it on click and collect.) doesn't ask for top up online either.
  25. HendoLJ's avatar
    Can I plug it?
  26. Envx's avatar
Bought these as burner phones. You can receive texts and phone calls on them so great for using for Uber eats, Deliveroo, just eat etc etc for first time order bonuses. Also due to the long standby time having one in the glove box for emergencies is a no brainer.
  27. BrianButterfield's avatar
I go through lots of these phones as burners for accounts for various things. Only problem is after a few years if you do not top up, they cut you off.

It loads just fine for me. But if you are still having trouble are Argos catalogue number is:

    310/0660

Just copy and paste this into the Argos website or app and it will take you direct to the product listing.

Mine seems to have come with the £10 credit anyway, it was in the box. I didn't buy it.

    Some info:
It's already on the latest firmware 13.00.17.00, with no further update available.
Key tones are horrific, turn down immediately in the audio profile settings.
Locking the screen is best done by pressing the power button first. If you lock via the shortcut button, unlocking takes you back there which is a bit annoying.
Auto power on/off allows you to select the applicable days, which is useful.

Edit: Bluetooth doesn't pass contacts or call log data to my car, which is rubbish. Really disappointing. (edited)

Our kids use these during the week, when they "sneak" their phones with them to school. It's perfect as they are NOT smart phones and only used to make calls/txt letting us know if they are late or if plans have changed. Also we don't worry about them being stolen... it's really a win/win. :-)
