Got mine today from EE for 409. Free headphones, but the charger isn't officially part of the offer.

Either way, a 50 quid saving is nothing to sniff at. Virgin sim works fine as well.
#162
Also worth noting that the build quality of this unit is far superior to my previous one. No squeaky buttons, sim tray sits flush, although for some reason the 3 touch buttons are green on this one.

I had a terrible experience trying to get one. Nobody seems to know their stuff in phone shops anymore

3 shops in my town owned by EE
first one don't sell it on PAYG and suggested carphone warehouse (who don't even stock it)
Second had stock but couldn't do it as pay as you go because Tmobile stock is "awkward"?? And then suggested the Lumia 610 :/
Third suggested carphone warehouse (who don't even stock it)

Went back to shop 1
Can't pre order one, couldn't tell me when due in and also said I can't use a Virgin sim (wrong)
Then gave me the wrong price on contract of £20 upfront and £36 per month (£20 upfront is for business contracts)

Went to Phones4U who only had white but showed me a black 820 and tried to tell me it was a 920
Said it was £359 and "that's why you buy from Phones4U"
Even though I pointed out the box said 820. He then apologised and said try EE!

Nokia are **** if these idiots are supposed to be driving sales for these phones.
I went into town with £410 on me and left an hour later with it.

Exclusivity deals are a mess.

Have to agree, the staff in store don't seem to have been trained to demonstrate them and they sure as hell can't or don't want to sell them.

Shame as its a great phone.

A lot of staff I've spoke to were in the process of switching from an iPhone to the Galaxy S3. Couple of them couldn't decide between an S3 and 920 (I nudged them in the right direction ;) ), and only one of them in P4U used it as a main phone, a yellow one I might add.

I was a little disappointed in the colour of yellow chosen. Looks nothing like the promos. More of a pale greenish colour.

anyone can help to get a white one for me...

the p4u in my town said the sim free 920 will be a thousands pound....
it is ridiculousness....

Very similar to my experience. I still haven't got one after three attempts now. I can't believe how much of a mess they've made of this launch. You'd think Nokia and Microsoft would have been on this one to make sure it is as easy as possible for consumers to buy their stuff considering how they are trying to capture market share, yet it seems they've engineered a roll-out that makes it difficult for those who want the phone to buy one, let alone customers who haven't necessarily made up their mind. I'm seriously considering other options now and definitely won't be buying a 920 if I can't get this deal.

After trying countless off EE shops, with no avail, it seems no body is interested in selling this phone, unless it's on contract. The one shop that I found that had stock did not want to give the wireless charger. So I'm just gonna hold on. :(

A also had a terrible experience trying to get one - visited 7 stores yesterday, only one of them had it in stock and would not give the wireless charger even after I showed them a picture of the offer as advertised in other stores. 1 of the stores didn't even know about the phone let alone the deal! 2 others said it is not available on PAYG. I sent a message to EE through their facebook page and was informed that it is an Orange issue not EE! What a shambles.

they have the phone on both t-mobile and orange.

I went for Orange as that's who my sim cards with.

I did ask about the wireless charger but the woman in store said that it wasn't included in the deal, still happy with the phone and free headphones. :)

Hey Alex, go to http://nokiafreecharger.com/ from tomorrow and register for your free charger.

HERO!! I was just about to buy one !!

-update - it looks as though this is only a P4U promotion, not Nokia, so you may not qualify depending where you bought it. Apparently they verify the IMEI number...

I bought mine on Friday for £459 from P4U in Selby. No wireless charger but you can get them for free from Nokia. Phone is brilliant.

I got this today from an EE store in Bootle, Liverpool. Despite what the staff may tell you, they CAN swap contract Lumia handsets to PAYG ones as that's what they did for me.

Few things:

- the headphones didn't discount so she price-adjusted manually
- the chargeplate didn't discount either, so she did a search under 'Nokia' and found them. I actually showed the staff this site, as they didn't believe that the chargeplate was for PAYG handsets.

You guys may run into these things as well so be prepared. I can post the receipt if you want.

£409. Absolute bargain, and the phone is lovely (even if many of the apps I use like instagram, spotify, iPlayer and Twicca aren't there).

EDIT: should point out that I'd previously been to four other EE stores, two in Wirral and two in Liverpool One. Neither would do the deal, but I reckon it was because they were mad, mad busy.

Can you tell me which store and post the receipt as I still really want the phone and my store said they had contract stock. Can make them call the store you got it from so they hopefully believe it!

Did they have many left? I've got a pre-order for an unbranded, unlocked one from Amazon.de but I'm not sure I can wait any longer. I actually tried calling the Bootle store the other day and there was no answer, I took it as a sign and didn't ring back. But seeing your posts has got me craving this phone again and trying to convince myself I can live with a locked one.

Can anyone confirm if this phone is the 4G/LTE version? Also, has anyone managed to get the red phone? Thanks.
1 Like #177
Not sure how many left, sorry. Confirmed that it's the 4G version, as you can select 4G or 3G as a maximum network speed in the settings.

Also, the red and yellow are currently exclusive to Phones4U who refuse to price match. It's only the white and black you can get here (and I've yet to see a white one anywhere).

Finally, CEX are paying £25 cash for these headphones. The bottom has dropped out of them on eBay as you might expect, but they're going for roughly the same amount, if a bit less.
#178
Cheers mate. I'm tempted to go for this. I really need a new phone. My HTC desire needs to be ditched.

I tried last week to get a Nexus 4 but it crashed while making the purchase. Google haven't even had the decency to email me or anything. I was also interested in buying Huwaei Honour 2 but it takes Huwaei months and months to bring phones to the UK. I'm so annoyed with Google I think its time to jump ship.

Can anyone confirm if the phone is a clean install of windows 8 Mobile? (apart from Nokia software)

I hope this phone is not full of Orange software.

Also, I take it the phone is unlocked to any network?

Yes this phone is 4G, I have a 3G sim but tested with a friends EE4G SIM.

There is zero Orange software on mine from EE, not even a boot logo. With Windows Phone you can remove all 3rd party software, this is a requirement of the OS.

The phone IS locked to Orange/T-Mob/EE/Virgin

Thanks bagg3rs. It's a shame the back covers on this phone can't be changed like on the Nokia Lumia 820.
#182
Just seen quite a nice case. Subtle. Tones down the phone a little. Doesn't add too much bulk.

Thanks for posting this. I've just managed to get exactly the same deal from Bristol Cabot Circus. The other two Bristol shops didn't have any and wouldn't sell them anyway. I went into the Cabot store armed with your screenshot, but it turned out I didn't even need it. It just goes to show that it is exactly *who* you see that counts. The girl I saw just put it all through as I mentioned it without even questioning. £399 for all that gear is just a brilliant deal. I'm really pleased with the 920 it really is a brilliant phone. It is a shame it took 11 EE shop visits over three different days, and a lot of hassle to get one. Worth it though.

Does anyone know if this handset can be unlocked to all networks? Thanks.

EE told me it's locked to EE/Orange/TMobile (and therefore Virgin) and cannot be unlocked via "legit" methods for 3 months.

very happy

Im sorry but if yours looking for a case for this, then youre going it wrong.

these phones don't need cases, period.
#189
Thank you OP, Finally manage to get hold of one.

An EE shop that had staff that knew what they were talking about. (Seems as rare as the Nexus 4... Staff that is)

Manage to get the phone (in Black), wireless charger (also in Black, they did have the White Charger available) and Headphones.

Seems that stock may be filtering through, as certain shops in West London that did not have stock available at the weekend are starting to have a few delivered. Don't know if Nokia wanted to make it any harder to get hold of their Flagship phone.

Good luck in getting one... Great phone.

Im having no luck in getting one and am on the verge of giving in now and getting an s3. There are 3 ee stores where i live, 2 are ex Orange and the other T-Mobile. Its the same story every day, 1 orange shop says OOS, the other doesnt pick up the phone and the t-mobile says they arent allowed to sell it without a contract. I cant hang on forever as im desperate for a new phone, is it worth all this hassle?

I really can't understand Nokia's strategy on the 920. Lets be honest this is most likely Nokia's last throw of the dice. The company has been failing for years and Apple and Samsung have totally wiped the floor with them.

So now finally Nokia brings out a well specced phone that looks simply gorgeous. And what do they do? Sign up ee as the exclusive carrier? Utter madness. Surely they would want to get this phone out to as many people as possible?

The colour situation is also insane. How ridiculous that you can only buy the red and yellow models from phones4u. It seems that Nokia are destroying their own phone.
#192
Are the WESC headphones just the standard ones in the box?
#193
By the way, when the idiots in the shop start saying that they have only got contract stock available and arent allowed to sell these as PAYG, is there anything you can say?
#194
EE shop in Metro Centre has Stock in Black and it says £399 PAYG on Price tag, spoke to guy in store he would give me the headphones but had to get this on contract for wireless charger, shame would have bought if with charger.

Tell them you've spoken to head office and were told they shouldn't be holding back stock like that and that they want to be informed of any stores that do.

I had a look at this today in my local phones4u. I wasn't to impressed with the all black model. The yellow and red look much better.

Unfortunately I couldn't lift the phone off the bracket to have a proper look at it.

The dummy models are cheap and crappy in comparison to the real ones.

I've ended up getting rid of mine. As fantastic as the phone is, the lack of various sports and news apps has become a nuisance. I could have overlook that somewhat if the phone wasn't so big.

And no I'm not one of those pathetic reviewers who moaned about size and weight while they were sucking Tim Cook off. I just have tiny hands. Like really tiny. The weight was no issue, I've just grown tired of shuffling my hand for a few seconds every time I need to reach the top of the screen.

For anyone else with small hands, just know that the black matte model is VERY slippery when picked up with a dry hand. This is probably the only phone in the world that excessive hand sweating is a good thing for grip.

Go back and say that you would like to buy the charger regardless. It will be discounted automatically by the till and he won't be able to say anything then!

The charger is definitely included I didn't even have to ask. They were more funny about the headphones. Tried to say it wasn't on the list if phones eligible for them. When I asked to see the list, it was magically ok and didn't matter

It was the real phone but was securely fixed to the stand. I really wanted to pick it up and get a feel for weight and size etc...
