I think the only reason this got so much heat cuz we all thought GameCube games would come to wiiu

Heat for anything that saves people having to buy an overpriced controller when the controllers they already have are better!

Does this only work with Smash Bros on Wii U?

I also remember there's another unofficial one that works but that can also be used on a PC, are there any four player games that can be played from a PC with four controllers plugged into something like this?

Good price for an official one, of course, but would a cheaper third party one work just as well? Also, do Wavebirds work with these?

Bought the combo pack with Smash Bros last week for £50 from Amazon, … Bought the combo pack with Smash Bros last week for £50 from Amazon, hopefully it'll retain a bit more value than the two separately.Installed Nintendont on the vWii side so at least I've still got a proper reason for keeping onto the Wavebirds. To be honest, if you don't already own any GC controllers, I wouldn't bother buying this.

Does the Wavebird work properly with this?

I bought one years ago and have never tested mine out properly.

I do have a wired Resident Evil 4 edition GameCube controller as back up anyway :).

PS: OP thanks for posting this. I have been waiting months for these to become available again. You sir are a legend. I have ordered one :).

They don't use the same connection unfortunately. I seem to remember there being n64 to GC converters but I can't seem to find anything like that now.

I really would like to use my N64 controllers on more things, that analogue stick was so precise. That control scheme in goldeneye where you could use two controllers simultaneously was so much fun.

Or Nintendon't, if you are a wizard ;).

Yup, works a treat with a Wavebird wireless controller and 'Nintendont'.

I see this has 2 USB plugs. Do they both need to be plugged into the Wii U? If so, how are you using Nintendon't? Doesn't it need a USB socket for the hard drive?

Does anyone really use nintendont in a viable fashion? Seriously, I find it so flakey. Hard resets galore, nothing bothers me more in gaming than having to literally unplug a console while it's on after it freezes..

Use an SD Card to play the games. Can pick them up cheap as chips.

I've mainly bought this for use with Dolphin :).

Can anyone confirm that the grey plug is optional? I'd rather run wii and gamecube games from the USB port if possible

It's rock solid for me. I had a wii with a wiikey for a long time so … It's rock solid for me. I had a wii with a wiikey for a long time so never really bothered with the usb side of modding. But, having bought a U and wanting the same functionality I previously had, Nintendont was a doddle to set up. Finding a loader that was child friendly and supported SD loading was more difficult, but after several nights of research and testing, i'm using a version of Wiiflow and it all integrates seamlessly.Running a 64gb micro SD card with an adaptor, no USB drives in sight. Plugged both USBs from this GameCube adaptor into the back but apparently the grey is only for rumble so I guess it may be optional for Wavebird users.

Interesting. See, I was using USB GX Loader and a USB HDD and if I'm honest, it wasn't usable full stop, let alone for a child. I found the front end of Nintendon't itself such a turn off that I gave up and stopped using it. The flash graphics of WiiFlow and USB Loader were so appealing, the fact I couldn't really get them going just made me totally lose interest.

http://en-americas-support.nintendo.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/13277/~/gamecube-controller-adapter-%26-gamecube-super-smash-bros.-edition-controller-faqPart of my time testing/fighting with it was taken up with USB GX which was the best on paper, but doesn't support loading Wii games from an SD card, only USB.Wiiflow was an ok compromise, had to find a tweaked version and a slightly modded version of Nintendont too. All working fine now though, even copied my saves from my old GC memory card and working fine.Only downside of using Wiiflow with an SD card only is that it's slower to start up than if you also have a USB attached. Even plugging a blank USB in speeds things up for some reason but I've just got used to it.Cfg USB loader looked the best option but it overwrites your Nintendont preferences on boot each time (by design apparently) and I couldn't find any way to get Wii /VC games to display in 16:9 using it. There's a branch version that allegedly fixes those, but it didn't work for me.Hope that's of use, if you like I can try and dig out the links I used on Monday.

Thanks mate, that would be handy. Another thing I often did was just update every time there was anything new, I'm wondering if that was daft and if I should have just left it whenever I found a more or less working build... I may try again soon, it's been 3 or 4 months since I was really looking into it.
