Looks like a great deal, I'm going to look for one, but my main concern with these is whether it's worth buying these old models at all rather than waiting for one of the new models which, among other improvements, is significantly slimmer and lighter, has removable batteries, microUSB charging (as opposed to a one-off cable) and much longer battery life...
(I'm not just being negative, it's a sincere comparison)
Edit: In a similar line of thought I still wonder if one should buy the Vita TV if they're not concerned about the portable uses. The biggest downside to that seems to be the loss of touch screen(s).

I got a used wifi one from Game for the same price without a memory card, so if you can get a 3G one with a memory card for the same price it's a steal.

As for RawHero calling it an unnecessary device... You could say that about any entertainment product

If you are planning to get a PS4 this will be a great companion device, at a great price.

Read the post again the original store tweeted and said this applies to all HMVs with stock.

Nice price, My Local HMV had quite a few of these marked up at £149 so I'm sure they'll now scan through at £99.99

Just bought one WiFi only with Fifa 13 voucher (expired in September though) and 4 GB memory card in Westfield, it was the last one and marked £139 but scanned £99. Used a Westfield gift card so it came to £80 only. Happy :-) Thank you OP

    Update: Voucher still works :-)

They had a bunch of Wifi Only models for £135, and some Wifi Only + 4gb Sticks + either COD or Assassins Creed for £160 (?). They wouldn't honour the Wifi-only model at £99. Thoroughly **** off right now. At least I got some exercise...My buddy got the last Wifi-only model for £99 at the HMV Leicester branch by the way. We are no longer friends.

Check at Bond Street, pleanty of stock at £99 there

    Imaginary numbers ?

No, not imaginary numbers. An imaginary number is the square root of -1 denoted by i or j. Do you not understand the concept of decimals?

Heads up that Cex prices on vita games seem to have dropped a couple of quid a few hours ago, just picked up Fifa for £6, was £8 at midday. Fifa 13 was £12, now £10, etc

Uncharted now £12, metal gear thing £15, etc and so on

3G ones are sold out. When I was there at 10AM this morning the guy in front of me also got the last wifi+CoD pack. I picked up the vita (wifi) fifa football (with 4gb card) bundle. I'm not sure how many were left, but based on the fact that they had lots of them yesterday, and the 3G and CoD ones are gone, I'm going to say they are either very low on stock or sold out.

The new Vita is INFERIOR to the old/current model in almost every aspect.

Isn't the difference to the 3G model rather pointless? Assuming I'm not interested in paying a subscription for a barebones service. I've never seen a vita so I did a quick search and an IGN article actively discourages the 3G version- although it is a very old article, nonetheless 3G is more outdated than ever.

Well it's a nice feature to have for "free" (plus new, plus 4gb card). Normally the 3G ones cost £20 - £30 more. If you saw them side by side in the store at the same price you wouldn't pick up the one without 3G.

I love my Vita, I have 11 games now and 5 PSP games on it, awesome at this price!

Thanks, I'll bear that in mind. I'm guessing it doesn't add weight or battery life drain (when not in use obviously) then?

I have the wifi one but I would have had a 3G one if they have been priced the same at the time. My friend has the 3G and from having them side by side I couldn't tell any difference.

Vita has Skype and a web browser so I would just throw in a giffgaff sim just for the heck of it even if I didn't plan on playing games over it.
  34. ginguskahn's avatar
To anyone picking this up or new Vita owners in general: Game website has Virtua Tennis 4 for £4.99 brand new. It's a little short lived but very pretty graphically to show off that Vita screen and is great fun in short bursts (ideal portable game IMO). A steal for a fiver. game.co.uk/en/…916

I was just in HMV Oxford Circus (the big one), about an hour ago, checking out the Vita. It was not advertising this cheap price, but as has been mentioned may well be true when scanned.

A little bit miffed as I have just ordered a refurbished one a couple of days ago from Tesco EBay (3g one £110), but then again it still gives me 14,days to send it back for a refund if I don't like it (bit of a mystery to me the vita)

If it helps folk nowhere near a HMV here's the Tesco EBay Refurb one...

PS, if I don't collect my tesco eBay delivery (probably have a delivery note when I get home, it was due today) can I send it back that way without paying for p+p ? I never use eBay much, at all really.

Might still go to hmv and see if any left, just watching Dame Edna Beverage in The Palladium...
Tip if anyone's going don't sit in the first few rows.....
