PES 2016 marks the twentieth anniversary edition of the hugely successful football series.

From its humble origins on PSOne, the PES series has leaped from format to format, adding ever more realism as it evolved. This heritage has been celebrated in PES 2016’s new tagline ‘Love The Past, Play The Future’, highlighting the series’ recent return to core PES values in last year’s PES 2015 and focusing on the many new gameplay and presentational elements that will further establish the series as the definitive football experience.

PES 2016 aims to retain its title of ‘Best Sports Game’, as voted across the world at games shows and by major media outlets in 2014, by continuing to lead the way in the recreation of ‘The Beautiful Game’. The series aims to go back to its roots to create an exciting match between users, and proudly present PES 2016 to deliver quality gameplay following The Pitch is Ours mantra. From further integration of the industry leading Fox Engine to bring the on-pitch action to life and the full commitment to centre the product around creating the best gameplay experience, to the full redevelopment of Master League, every facet of the game has been enhanced to deliver yet another outstanding product.

I was a diehard PES player from 1997 through to the end of the PS2 era, … I was a diehard PES player from 1997 through to the end of the PS2 era, but most recently tried FIFA 15 on PC as I don't have a lot of time these days and - frankly - just wanted to play as Palace at Selhurst Park.I know PES doesn't have the same licences as FIFA, but it always used to play better (albeit this was 10 years ago).Anyone got any views on which of this and FIFA 16 I should go for (on PC)?

Also a die hard PES fan since ps1 days. I usually buy both every year. As much as I dislike EA and like to stay loyal to PES, Fifa seems to edge it for me ever year lately. I just find the game better in every way than PES. After hearing about the new features of PES 16 and getting quite excited with the previews I was hoping it would be PES's year this year, but I've played the demos and wasn't overly impressed with PES.

Will be buying this though at £18, it's a steal.

Disgusting practice by Konami and Adam Bhatti, the silence was deafening, they were not honest and they should have came out and said that the PC version was a gimped PS3 port, they totally concentrated on the PS4 version. They clearly knocked the PC version out as cheaply as possible to make a profit in day one sales before word of mouth about the game spread. I think Konami have surpassed WB with this one!

I'd go on the steam forums and see what people are saying about it there.
I've been following it and with them not releasing the demo on pc (seems an insult) and the fact that they are meant to be using last gens engine I'd say fifa.
Fifa demo is up on origin, give it a try.
But what I will say, from companies on twitter they are all raving about PES saying it could be the best football game ever.
Or you could wait for it to be released and wait for the steam user reviews to appear as it seems the PC community is probably one of the most honest people when it goes to reviews.
    It's a difficult one.
Personally I'd wait as I can't see the price going up drastically.

Yes but on PC and PS4 that is easily fixed with mods.

That is fine, I like the non licensed part

Following PES closely atm, I tried the demo on the PS4 and wow, it really is the best football game ever made for sure. Desperately waiting for information on the PC version.

PC version? Cheers let me know.
Think it's the fact it's using the ps3 engine and not the ps4 one.
Fifa did the same one year but caught on the year after.
Can see it being the same with pes.

I only played one match. Graphics are definitely PS3 but that doesn't bother me as the gameplay seems solid. Commentator had me nodding off a few times though.

I played a handful of games, I tried hard to like the game but couldn't.
. Menus and UI are awful.
. Rosters are not updated (should be fixed in a patch released on Friday).
. Input lag > 0.5s in online games (may be fixed by playing in windowed mode, but may not).
. Goalkeepers don't move, all online games ended with more than 10 goals scored.
. Each cut-scene causes the game to pause for 1 second before and after it is played.
. Very repetitive celebrations which are useless.
. Stuttering when passing despite playing on high-end machine (stable 60 fps though).

I am utterly disappointed and cannot get a refund due to buying from cdkeys.
I would advise to try the demo before deciding.

Just read it looks equivalent to PS3 / XBOX360 visuals. That is laughable, If they can't provide a game "ATLEAST" on par with the PS4 / XBox One why would anyone bother with it on PC.

    Bhatti
"I know the fans really want it to be on par with the PS4 and Xbox One and we'll get there, we're aiming for that. It's one of those things where we have to I guess, being a smaller team than some of our competition, we have to prioritise sometimes because we don't have the resources and we'll definitely get there with the PC version, it'll be on par soon."

After last year's lemon I think I'll be giving this a miss. Bought 2 extra copies to play with friends and the PC version was absolute dated garbage.

Origin have a free demo of 16 and I've got to admit the open play/passing/shooting seems a vast improvement on 15. That said I didn't really rate 15. Personally I'd go down the PES route on my next purchase.

IGN currently reviewing this its at 9.5 atm and is said to be the greatest footy game ever... But IGN can be a bit dodgy. Hope it's true tho as I live pes
  28. dr104's avatar
The blurb they released is plain wrong, PES started life as International Superstar Soccer (ISS) back in 94/95 on the SNES. Great series up until PES6 **** after, sounds like its back to former glories after being **** for the last 10 years, if you have a PS4!
