    I have one of these, along with a strimmer too and I think they're terrible. I'm going back to Flymo. I think they're much better.

    Bought the 1400w model to replace an old mower last year. For the price you cannot complain and they are lightweight and do the job. They are not actually made by Qualcast but the Home Retail Group (Home base / Argos) who licence to use their name. Qualcast only make cylinder lawnmowers. Which magazine did an article on this and it appears Spear & Jackson have done a similar deal. Any warranty and spares issues are dealt with by the Home Retail Group and not Qualcast.

    Picked up yesterday, was really impressed by how it trimmed my front jungle! (My flymo gave up last year and only just got round to buying a new one)

    If you want a great mower, get a Bosch rotak, powerful and does a great job It will cost more but it's worth it.

    Three weeks ago I would have agreed with you, then I 'upgraded' my old Rotak to a new Ergo one and it's not nearly as good. Lead too short (10m vs 12m on old one) and doesn't seem to be nearly as powerful even though they both have 1400W power consumption. I also find the 'ergo' handles much less 'ergo' than the old one. I've been in touch with Bosch several times over my complaints but no response. How quickly these companies can alienate a real advocate for their products!

    Flymo packed up yesterday after about 8yrs. Needed a new mower quick and so bought this Bosch from B&Q, was actualy £70 instore Bosch Rotak 320ER.

    It cut the grass OK but appears cheaply built and I will be surprised if it lasts as long as the Flymo it replaced. If I were buying again I think I'd go for this Qualcast, as spec appears similar and at £34 I probably wouldn't be to upset when it breaks.
