That's 12 times what you get in the zx spectrum! Imagine how many levels Manic Miner would have if they ported it to the pi.
I'm sure there is defiantly a maths error here. I highly doubt the zx spectrum had about 43MB of RAM
Definately an English error there.

"Definitely" ;)

512mb but still crap.

Got bored of mine after a few days. It's pretty useless and slow. I can see it being useful to like poor kids in third world countries. But to the normal person it's of no use. It's good for getting kids into computing but those suggesting it can be used as a media player are having a laugh. It's terrible as a media player.

Raspberry Pi: The most overrated product ever.
what a load of BS, XBMC runs fine on it even at 1080p, just search YouTube for examples.

Not sure if you made your error on purpose.
But mine wasn't. Didn't proof read it. The word got changed to the wrong spelling when I was typing on my phone, predictive text for yah.
As you can see from the screenshot below, chrome has no problem of the word defiantly and that is using the default UK English dictionary.
http://s11.postimage.org/i0qnr2fkj/bah.jpg

That's because defiantly is a word (with a completely different meaning)

I assume he meant to put 12000x - I think it came with 16kB (upgradable to 48kB).

they will be around permanently ! as they are being churned out by the Sony factory in Wales in their thousands every day .. made in the UK ! ... big advantage of not being made in china is the short lead times in making changes such as upping the RAM to 512 ...

I hope they dont keep upgrading this over the coming months. Part of the whole point of the thing (to me at least) was that you are sort of restricted with what you can achieve and had to think about how best to get around it. Upping to half a gig of ram isnt a huge step but hopefully they stop at that for a good period of time.

Still to use mine (old model). Plan on doing something with MAME so extra ram for something like that would be a huge help I suppose.

come on now for many of the things the pi was sold on its just fine .. trouble is like everything people want more out of it (so from something easy to code on/interface to a "linux.PC", xmbc media server etc all for the same 30ish quid ..

I have been running minidlna/squeezeboxserver/VPN server on a hacked dockstar for a couple of years (headless debian with 128MBRAM 1.2GHZARMv6 - USB HD) and moved recently to a new hacked box (debian arm hf 1GHZ Armv8 512MB RAM SATA HD) .. the memory has made little difference but the next gen armhf CPU and SATA interface has taken for example the initial squeezebox media libary scan from around 5 hours on the dockstar to 1.5 on the new box :-)

if you need 512MB that much just flog your old one on fleabay and get a 512 ?

It must have changed since you ordered a single one, as I just placed an order for one and was charge the handling fee. I phoned up to query this and was told it was for orders below £45. I phoned again 5 minutes later and spoke to somebody else who told me the same thing.
