There are numerous doorbell cams on the market.

It is near impossible to understand the pros and cons of each, so one can make an informed decision.

Can anyone from the community help with this?

Either articles or user testimonies that can help others navigate this terrain, and make an informed choice.

Cheers to anyone willing to chip in here.

I couldn't agree more - very difficult to decide what's best.

I've previously had a Ring Pro (wired) doorbell. This one has worked flawlessly. However after they put the subscription up to £35/yr (which you realistically need) I decided to look elsewhere.

What I want is a no-subscription option that allows recording (either to some separate storage device in the home, or the cloud) - ideally that can draw constant power rather than just battery operated (cause the response time tends to be better, + also you're not having to replace batteries)

EUFY I've ruled out - the fact that you can reset/remove the doorbell FROM THE DOORBELL and then the footage on the linked homebase is inaccessible means its useless as a security device. More recent privacy issues have only compounded my decision.

I've currently got a Blink doorbell as a replacement (theres a sync module-2 in my home also, thats shared with the blink outdoor cameras I've got. A blink mini camera inside (that points out) is acting as the chime.
This works well as a doorbell, and seems to record fairly accurately - although the Ring Pro produced better recordings, and fewer false positives. I am still playing with the settings, so I might be able to improve the blink. Annoyingly its supposed to be able to be wired (which supplements, but doesnt replace the battery power source) - but its been refusing to accept the power source that my previous RING doorbell was fine with (20V via doorbell wiring). That means the batteries are not going to last as long, and also I dont want to crank the IR light and sensitivity too high, so I can preserve the batteries. IE not ideal (but as I said it is doing its primary job well, and recordings are generally ok)

I'd still prefer something wired (that actually works), with subscription free recordings (that are accurate and good quality). Not sure what that is. Considering a reolink system (including the CCTV, Recording box, and wired doorbell) - but thats a LOT of wiring + its not cheap for the whole system.

    Anyone with other suggestions?

as a postie, these are the worst camera doorbells of all the big brands
Alot do not work, press bell and no notification to the person indoors, cheap plastic that fades quickly , the actual doorbell button on them come off after a while , again, cheap plastic that deteriorates and crumbles off

EUFY i've never had issues with
GOOGLE , can have about 10-20 second delay for notification
ARLO i've never had issues with
BLINK abit temperamental, seems quite cheap feeling and people seem to take quite a while to answer door, long notification delay

For everyone asking , you don't have to pay for the subscription unless you want to access the recording after the event .
If you just want to view" live " footage eg somebody is at your door and you want to see who it is, you will get an alert &:be able to view that live footage without the subscription.

I'm totally happy with my Ring v2 which I got recently. Get audio alerts on Echo Dot, audio and visual alerts on Echo Show, and I got an Echo Chime too just to make it more audible through the house.
