the offer is what currys call WBW this mean the deal is you have to buy a TV to get the deal but most stores will do you the deal with out the WBW as sky dont know the customer has not taken a tv
-----------------

also there have been alot of people that have been turned away as some stores will not break the terms of buying a tv

If you already have multi-room then you will need to pay the install charge.
#7
If your already a Sky customer, ring up and say your thinking of cancelling, they usually offer you Sky+ for £49.99 including installation.
#8
It was WBW up till yesterday, it is now available for anyone. Currys Solihull had leaflets all over the place with the offer.
#9
Saw this on Digital Spy the other day. Seems like Curry's are saying different things to different people depending on which store you go to.

Some have walked away with a £59 Sky+ upgrade no strings attached whilst others have been told they must sign up to Sky Talk (BT land line required) and others have been told they must buy a TV to get the offer.

That does not work.

I spent ages trying to acquire some kind of deal on a Sky+ box last week and Sky insisted that there was only a £99 plus £30 deal available and that was it - even then I didn't qualify.

It's not worth the hassle.

Also this thing about phoning up to cancel in order to be offered a better deal or a big discount is also ********. They stopped doing that when Sky Broadband was introduced.

Now all deals are dependent on whether you have Sky BB installed or not.

Try www.skyuser.co.uk for the full details of any available offers.

2 weeks ago i called to say i was giving 30 days notice to cancel.''Why are you leaving and what can we do to make you stay'' they said.I am giving virgin a try as they have offered me a good deal.I will stay if you can make it cheaper and if you give me a sky+ box.The lady reduced my package by £7 and dropped movies which i am not bothered about and said i could have a box for £49.Not good enough says i.Ok sir,we can do the sky+ box for free, when would you like the install.Just be firm and remain polite and you will score.I do not have SKY BB and they never tried to sell me it either.
Edit:See here,reply no.340 by Dave,for cheaper sky numbers.

Its really not that difficult to get SKY+ for free, you just need to call up and say you are cancelling because you work nights and therefore miss all the shows you like blah blah blah....

Thats strange, because over the last 3 months they've offered it me twice,I've not accepted it straight away saying i'll go think about it, then I phoned them up monday and said i'd accept their offer.

i'm awaiting the engineer tomorrow to come and install it ready for christmas :)

I always find it helps me not look like a plank if I find out the facts before hurling the verbals.

can this be combined with the see, speak and surf offer they have on thier website?

looking to get this and sky+. Going thru website w/quidco will be cheaper with £129.99 for sky plus box but with 125 quid back from quidco although quidco is not guarenteed..... Hmm decisions decisions

Agreed, it is one of those things that you get then wondered how you ever managed without it.

I have moved to a new place and dish already there reports no signal so I might have to call them and pay £50 for installation.

If I order this with installation can I skip that installation?

Utter rubbish from start to finish.

I have got myself free SKY+ (brand new PVR as well not reconditioned on a 6month contract) since sky broadband was launched, it was around the time they dropped the £10pm fee and was acheived by calling threatening to leave waiting till near the end of the 30 day then calling them up.

Hi there--i just got my 2nd multi room yest as i had phoned up to ask for a price to get a standered box in my son's room--she said she'd look at my a/c to see what offers i had on my a/c and i got a new sky+ put in my bedroom and my bedroom standard box moved to my sons room all for £49 inc installation so i'd advise to give sky a phone and see what they can offer you...FAB or what?
#25
p.s the phoning up top threating to cancell does work as i phoned up a few weeks back as i was so annoyed i had payed £99 for my orig sky+(2years ago) box that didnt have sky anytime and the higher gig memory i said i wanted to cancell and low and behold they offered to send out a engineer to fit a new up to date sky+ box!! I also moved house in Aug and they wanted to charge me £50 house move fee i told them to cancell my a/c as i had never payed for a house move with my sky before and then thay said out of goodwill they'd waver the £50 fee!!! So just goes to show you with sky if you aren't happy with them let them know and they really DO NOT want to loose you lol
#26
I paid for my normal sky box outright and installation (freeview from sky) Subsequently been on a good deal for packages. If I get the Sky plus box will my freeview box still work or will I need multiroom?

well that said.....two weeks ago i rang sky and told them i loved the service but wanted to cancel as i just started a new job working through to 10pm, they offered me a sky+ install for £49, i said no its too close to christmas. i was asked to wait for a moment and then the lady i spoke to said how about we help you out and do the box and install for free.............I think the trick is to remain polite with these things....................oh and by the way i agree with the other posters that said it is class, and not sure how we did without it. Merry Christmas all :)

So, does this work without buying a TV then?

I have Sky+ already, but would like a box for the bedroom - can I do this? Can't seem to find any official Ts & Cs...

Sky talk is free, why would you cancel it?

I already use 18185 for all my calls anyway so my calls are free regardless of time and duration. Not sure if Sky Talk would interfer with it.

Also, am lazy and dont want to dial more digits to get through to BT's network. :whistling:

Does anyone know the cheapest way to go about upgrading my existing, non sky+ subscription to sky+? I have acquired a sky+ box, but it won't work without a sky+ subscription... cheers.

No it wont interfere.

It will be beneficial actually if you accidentally miss 18185 sometime.
You will pay Sky (or use their free allowance) instead of BT.

hi all,
Have just moved to a property that has a standard sky box and dish already installed (in UK btw)

Can anyone tell me if I need just call sky and commit for 12 months to a package and they will send a card through for me to use.

Sorry to state the obvious, but it's probably quickest to call Sky and ask. :santa:

I rang sky 2 weeks ago and threatened to cancel, first i was offered sky+ for £49.99 plus £30.00 installation but turned it down then they offered me it for free and no installation costs.so they do still do it, prehaps you haven't got the knack of negotiation !

I had the same. I bought a sky+ box off a friend because my standard box was playing up. Phone up sky and ask for your new box to be paired to your card. They will add sky+ on to your account for free, but because you will only have a single feed from the sky dish, you can only record whatever you are watching. I hope this makes sense!! :o
#36
Back to the subject of Currys. I have contacted my local store who have told me I have to buy a tv. So rang sky and they told me the best they could do was £129. I wanted to purchase this for my parents for christmas but no way am I going to pay £129.

sky plus is free now anyway isnt it - they dropped the 10 pound monthy rate when they started pushing HD.

On the subject of parents, my Mum (68) got Sky+ about 3 months ago after spending years fiddling with the video - she thinks it's a god-send. :)
