DSG have dropped the price of the Sony S to £299. I'm sure it's just coincidence that this occurred the day after the £50 off vouchers finished ;)

Available for home delivery or reserve and collect. Should also qualify for their £10 Mother's Day voucher, too.

Deal link is for Currys, links for Dixons and PC World in post one if you prefer them, but you'll get 1.51% if you go through Top Cashback.

Also available at The Carphone Warehouse, free delivery or collect in store - http://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/sony-s-tablet-pc-16gb-11318187-pdt.html?srcid=369&xtor=AL-1&cmpid=aff~HotUKDeals~

He means because the ipad 2 and a half is out. For those that don't like doing everything through itunes, not expanding memory etc I hope the new ipad drives down the price of android tablets too.

I'm an Apple fan, I have the iPhone 4 and Macbook Air but when it comes to tablets, the Sony is the best even more so than the iPad 3! IMO of course ...

Doesn't need HDMI, it's DLNA enabled.

Don't know anything about this. Been waiting for this price on an iPad 2. Is this better? Expandable memory, flash player? Yes I'm lazy and the tech. garble goes right over my head.

Far better. SD card slot, micro-USB, flash-enabled, built-in IR remote, DLNA, PlayStation compatible, ICS update on the way, and, best of all - no frickin iTunes!!!

Have they changed the limited way the sd card can be used then? Could be fixed in ICS if not I guess.
Certainly see hdmi as preferable to dlna.

My Brother recently got one of these, it is nice but the Wifi is a real issue, it drops off at the drop of a hat, it causes real issues, it seems it is a known problem, but Sony have yet to fix it, even sitting 3 feet from the router still only gets you 2 bars

No it's not better. No iOS, you're very limited in good quality apps and games. I had an HTC Flyer running Honeycomb and compared to my mates iPad it was awful. I sold it in the end, nothing can compare to the quality experience available on an iPad. If I were you I'd pay an extra £30 and get an iPad.

Seriously, if you buy an Android tablet you will regret it. I felt sick with regret after I bought mine, I hate that feeling.

I'm sorry, but you really shouldn't tar all android handsets with the same brush. I agree there is no doubt that for SOME people iPad (1, 2, new or whatever!) is the pinnacle, and yes it is very user friendly, but to a more adventurous user Android based devices offer a lot of scope for experimenting and customization beyond anything you could do on an iDevice. Also, there are probably more free apps on android than iOS!

BTW The Flyer is rubbish though ;)

If you are in the market for a tablet you could do a lot worse than this or the iPad 2 for a similar price, just have some hands on time with both before you take the plunge. I personally like the S tab, the shape is interesting and comfortable to hold, it is perhaps a bit of a shame it doesn't have the same premium feel of other tablets though

You sir are the definition of a fanboy & should just go join the inevitable long queue outside your nearest apple store now, out of harms way.

There are more apps for Android but they are all third rate.

The best thing I found about an Android tab was that I could run a torrent program. I'd get an Android tablet over an iPad because of the freedom but the applications and games that are available are just awful or nowhere near as polished as their iPad counterparts. I remember when I chose an HTC Desire over an iPhone. I tried to justify my choice for ages but in the end I conceded and joined the flock.

better sitck your cash with iPad 2 unless you want better camera LOL

As to being a fanboy, I'd say that is probably true. I have tried the alternatives though and supported Android right from the get go. Unfortunately for me there is just no comparison. Fanboy or not I will always be a fan of the product which I find the best. I mean why wouldn't you be?

But thanks "unquestioned" you're a true troll.
