I have had these for just over a year, and I think they are great. The batteries last for ages, and the noise blocking is very good for flights.  Comfy to wear all day too for myself.  Sound quality is very good, although this does depend on the source of what you are listening to and the recorded volume.

This or the XM5 for 40 pound more?

I think it depends mostly on the portability side. The XM4s were great to fold and just chuck in my bag but the current XM5s don't fold, so I pretty much always carry it in a case. No idea if the sound differences are there because my ears cannot remember how the XM4s sounded two years ago.

Have had these for 2 years and not a single complaint. Charge lasts ages too

Same! I got them over the latest XM5s that dropped and don't regret it after watching MKBHD's review the saving was worth it and I'd honestly buy the XM4s again and save the extra few pounds. Unless of course the XM5s were discontinued heavily.

XM5 turn off for me was bigger to carry. Often see on Reddit some even save more and still buy XM3s.

The hinge broke on these for me recently, fortunately, this was still one year in so Amazon just refunded me. (Probably they see this issue a lot)

Unfortunately, Sony headphones have become an utter
Hinges or swivels brake, and Sony doesn't want to fix it under warranty as it is a mechanical damage (which only happens to thousands of people).

I have had a pair of XM3's for around 6 years now and managed to not break them

I purchased these from Amazon last year and received a 2nd hand pair in really poor condition they looked well used. Sent them back and went and got some from curry’s on price match.

Best headphones, in my non-professional opinion.

Same here. Hinge broke after just 6 months usage. My XM3's are still solid with no issues after many years.

Also £199 from John Lewis who include a 2-year warranty at no extra charge.

Sounds is great, fit is great, connects instantly to my mobile but can't get my Windows PC to remember them at all. Have to delete and re-add them every time - anyone have any tips?

I'm on third pair after hinge broke. First pair after a year and I thought was my fault, so bought replacement. Second pair broke after 11 months and I discovered it is a common fault. Amazon was good enough to offer a free replacement after a complaint. Sony is not backing up claims. Other than the rubbish build quality, they are fantastic.

Much worse than JBL 770NC despite costing 3x more.

Would love to compare these with Beats Studio Pro.

Bought the wh-1000xm5 due to the enhanced call quality. However every person I speak to says they can hear their own voice until I turn the volume down to 50%. Getting sick of the “are you on the echo 3000s again?” comments (edited)
